The weekly update of Lost Ark took place on March 31 and drew greater attention on reddit. This isn’t because the patch provided a lot, but rather because of what it doesn’t deliver. We at MeinMMO summarize the discussion.
What did the Lost Ark update bring? The weekly update in the new MMORPG brought comparatively few contents and had a lot of downtime. However, the players of Lost Ark are rather annoyed by what the update did not bring.
The update essentially included the following points:
- Due to a bug, players did not start as intended in ranked PvP at Silver rank, but at Bronze. This bug has now been fixed, and all players who have already played the mode received 250 MMR as a gift.
- Additionally, a bug in the chat window was fixed that allowed for the execution of HTML code in the chat.
- For the weekly combat item gifts, players can now choose which chest they receive, and are no longer dependent on luck.
You can find the complete patch notes for the update in the patch overview of the update.
Only a few hours after the update, the server had to be taken down again due to a bug. This pushed the already dismal mood on reddit to the limit.
Daylight saving time annoys in Lost Ark
Why are fans disappointed? Many are not necessarily complaining about the content of the update itself, but rather about what is missing in the update. The changes in PvP and the chat bug are received well, but it seems that for the majority, this is not enough.
The ability to choose the weekly chest is met with much more approval, but the negative topics from fans overshadow this significantly. Particularly in focus is the still missing roadmap, which is not expected this week either, as a developer confirmed in the forum.
Moreover, people continue to be annoyed by the various inconveniences that the time shift in the game brought. In Lost Ark, many events still have wrong time indications and the incorrect clock in the game also causes frustration among players. Amazon stated in the patch announcement that they are aware of the bug and are working on a fix, but the weekly update does not address it.
This leads to many annoyed comments in the forums and on reddit, with one player even saying in a thread about the update: “Wow, this is worthless.”
This reddit meme receives much support from the community:
The problem with the roadmap
What has happened here? Shortly after Lost Ark accidentally released a roadmap and later said that it was incorrect, a discussion started in the community that has yet to find an end.
It primarily revolves around the fact that Lost Ark has provided new content too quickly for many users, which leads fans to feel pressured and even forced to invest real money.
The incorrect roadmap also mentioned that they wanted to release a lot more content within the next two months that required a high gear score. Amazon then retracted this roadmap and wanted to present a new one that better aligns with the progress of the players.
This update caused a stir on reddit:
No roadmap again this week: While the servers were down during the update, an employee from Lost Ark confirmed in the forum that no roadmap would be released this week either. This upset fans of the MMORPG, who were already not completely satisfied with the patched content.
However, some fans are also turning the spotlight on themselves and noting that they are part of the reason why there is currently no new roadmap. In a thread on reddit, the user Taelonius writes:
Amazon does not want to release a roadmap for the same reason that you want one. They wish for flexibility and want to release their content when it suits them best, without having to listen to fixed dates of a roadmap.
Personally, I find this very understandable, because any form of a roadmap would currently turn into a shitstorm that could potentially rip a hole in the space-time continuum.
It was a mistake for them to mention a roadmap at all, from which they now cannot escape, and I think we should all chill out. I would be happy if they completely scrapped the roadmap.

This statement, while met with discomfort by many fans, also receives a lot of support.
Are the expectations too high?
What is the problem with the time zone? So far, Amazon and Smilegate have reacted extremely quickly to existing issues in the game. That a seemingly simple problem, like the incorrect time in the game, has persisted for so long is therefore met with great incomprehension.
A confirmation that the developers are already working on the problem is not enough for many. They wish to have the bug that has existed since Sunday removed from the game now.
However, many are overlooking that Amazon is also reacting very quickly to the chat bug. So when you look closer, the update primarily stirs unrest due to what it is not.
Because actually no one has any objections to the changes of the patch itself. Nevertheless, the mood on reddit remains rather subdued at present. There are many discussions about content that is not present and few discussions about topics that are actually already in the game.
It is a somewhat strange atmosphere that currently surrounds Lost Ark.
Additionally, there are many memes like this. A lot of them:
What do you think about the update? Can you relate to the community’s frustration or do you think too much is being expected from the Lost Ark team?
