The MMORPG Lost Ark has announced a new class for July 30. The Assassin comes with two subclasses, Blade and Demonic, for which there are also gameplay videos.
What’s new in Lost Ark? The MMORPG Lost Ark is continuously pumping out new content. Just in April, the developers released an entire continent and the new class Lance Master.
Now Smilegate has announced the Assassin, a class that has been missed in several MMORPGs. It comes with two subclasses: Blade and Demonic. Korean players will be able to play the Assassin starting July 30.
Here are the first gameplay videos and an analysis of how the class will work.
This is how the Blade Assassin works: Blade appears to be the “classic” of the two subclasses of the Assassin. Its gameplay consists of switching between two types of weapons in combat: two daggers and a longsword.
The abilities used determine which weapon is currently being used: blue abilities use the sword and the yellow ones use the daggers.
The class reminds somewhat of the existing Fighter class because it is also extremely fast and agile. Many of the Assassin’s abilities seem to have strong crowd control, such as stuns and knockbacks.
This is the Identity ability of the Blade Assassin: Like all other classes in Lost Ark, the Assassin also has an Identity resource. The bar fills up when dealing damage in combat.
Once the three spheres are filled, you have two options:
- You can activate them: The resource will slowly deplete and buff attack power, attack speed, and movement speed
- You use them immediately for a very strong attack that consumes all spheres.
This is how the Demonic Assassin works: Unlike the Blade subclass, the second Assassin moves a bit slower and does not have as high attack speed. However, his attacks have a greater range and he can use many more AOE attacks than the Blade subclass.
Demonic Assassin also has only one main weapon: The Demonic Blades. Most of his abilities are blue and use the daggers as the main attack. The second type of skills are the power abilities, which utilize the demonic power of the Assassin to attack.
This is the Identity ability of the Demonic Assassin: The Identity resource of the subclass is filled by using the two types of skills. Once activated, your character transforms into a demon and slaughters everything that isn’t quick enough to escape.
This grants him a new set of abilities (red) and increases his maximum HP and attack power. The HP boost is particularly significant.
In demon form, the Identity resource is slowly depleted, and you cannot leave this form until the resource is completely empty. Here, the Demonic Assassin behaves similarly to the Berserker subclass.
