In Lost Ark, the new May patch has been released. It brought many updates and adjustments. However, instead of celebrating the new class or the new raids, players are celebrating a seemingly small detail. You can now equip two accessories with the same name.
What makes the change so special? A sentence from the patch notes for the May update is often praised in reddit and the official forum:
Two accessories with the same name can now be equipped simultaneously.
Until now, you needed two different accessories with as similar stats as possible – after all, you wanted to improve those specific values.
Many users on reddit write that they have often bought an item from the auction house that they could not equip because they already owned that exact item. This step is also considered important for future legendaries, the players say:
- Xeredth is currently the top comment on the patch notes on reddit. He writes: “Oh really nice! I didn’t expect that this would change so soon.”
- TehMephs says: “I can’t count how many times I’ve bought an item from the AH and then realized my devastating mistake. That it was the same name and I couldn’t equip it. So many Pheons have vanished into thin air.”
- The user GimmeDemApples1 even says that it was “one of the most important changes of all” in the update.
But even aside from this small change, there is much praise for the patch.

Many “Quality of Life” changes that only came much later in Korea
What else are players praising? Pretty much everything. The user Brandonspikes emphasizes that we have received numerous “Quality of Life” changes that took months and years in Korea. Especially compared to Japan and Russia, these changes are said to have been brought to the western version quickly.
The user Ekanselttar jokes: “This is not a Legion Raid release with a few QoL changes, but a ‘Quality of Life’ patch with a bonus raid.”
Highlights among these changes, besides the accessories, include:
- A new menu for dungeons listing all available dungeons and raids
- The game now tells you in the UI whether you are attacking enemies from the side or from behind
- The auction house has received new and better search options and a display for Pheons
- New options for character appearances
- Numerous improvements to your own island
- Shortcuts have been added in the Guardian maps Frosthaven and Foggy Glen
Additionally, there are the major updates such as the Legion Raid, the new Guardian Raid, the hard mode for the Chaos Line, and new activities in South Vern.
Another highlight for many is the new class Destroyer, which was also released today.
There are numerous hidden changes, but not all are good
What else have players discovered about the patch? A thread on reddit is currently collecting undocumented and hidden changes. There are also some positive surprises among them.
For example, there is an adjustment in Chaos Dungeons that makes bosses spawn closer to you or run to you faster, which is a welcome change. There were also adjustments to the UI, so the loot popups in Chaos Dungeons are now smaller, and you can adjust the group interface.
What do players dislike? Sasha and Ealyn had relationship levels removed. For both NPCs, a romantic scene occurs at the highest affection. Players are now wondering if the West is too prudish for such scenes (via reddit).
The new skins have also received mixed reviews. Although the sets for the Destroyer do not look bad, many players want more skins and options to customize their appearance in general.

There are also discussions about the balance, as the adjustments are based on the meta in Korea. Since there are more classes there than here, not all changes make sense.
