Just yesterday, on May 12, the weekly update for Lost Ark was released. The servers were offline for four hours. However, today there is an unplanned hotfix, which is expected to have a downtime of 5 hours. We from MeinMMO summarize.
What is the situation? The weekly update on May 12 was quite small. Aside from a single bug fix, there were no visible changes for the players. The update focused on backend changes to prepare for the big May update, which is set to be released next week on May 19.
Apparently there was an error, as the Twitter account of Lost Ark announced last night that there will be a hotfix today that will focus on the same issue. This fix is supposed to address issues that could hinder the big May update.
Once again, there will be no visible changes for the players themselves. However, the hotfix will actually bring more downtime than the weekly update itself.
How long will the server be down? The servers of Lost Ark will be taken down at the usual time, at 9 AM German time, and are expected to remain offline for about 5 hours. If everything goes according to plan this time, you should be able to play again at 2 PM.
We will keep you updated in this article and update it as soon as there is news.
Update 1:25 PM: You can now download a 1.3 GB update on Steam and then play, as the servers are back online. Have fun!
The tweet with the announcement:
The community is confused – “What, two days in a row?”
How are the fans reacting? The reactions are broader than normal. A few players thank for the strong communication and solid preparations for the May update, but the majority seem quite confused and even somewhat annoyed about the renewed downtime.
Some fans are upset that these updates are being made during another downtime today and would have preferred if the server downtime yesterday had just been longer. Others firmly believe that something must have gone very wrong with the update yesterday.
This is what the fans say: Below the announcement of the downtime on Twitter, many comments reflect the situation. We would like to share some of them with you (via Twitter):
- Amonsi writes: “A 5-hour hotfix only 24 hours after the weekly maintenance? I just don’t understand why you didn’t do this during maintenance.”
- ZeroStreaming is also upset: “5 hours to bring a fix into the game that has been running in Korea for 3 years. That’s really a bit embarrassing.”
- whiz adds: “5 hours for a hotfix? What the hell happened?”
- twystd posts a YouTube link under the announcement, leading to a full hour of baby crying to express himself.
What do you think about it? Do you think it’s bad that the servers are going down again or do you not mind it so much? Feel free to let us know in the comments here at MeinMMO.
