In the November update on November 16, Lost Ark will fundamentally change how the Tripod system works in Tier 3. This means that you could lose some progress if you do not save it beforehand. We at MeinMMO explain the situation.
What are Tripods? Tripods are a mechanic in Lost Ark that you will get to know and use starting from Tier 3, i.e., from a gear score of 1,302. From this point on, equipment in Lost Ark has additional skill effects called Tripods.
These specifically improve certain aspects of the mentioned skills and make your life easier. Having the right Tripods on your equipment becomes really important later in the game and can make a huge difference in your gameplay.
What is changing? A few months ago, there was a major update to the entire Tripod system in Korea. This is intended to make it easier to understand and handle in the future. Our western version will also receive this update with the November patch of Lost Ark.
During this transition, Tripods will move away from your equipment to your skills menu, which you can access via “K”. This is meant to be more intuitive and easier to understand, especially for new players. Tripods on your equipment will no longer exist, which is the key point.

What do you need to do now? In every capital city of Lost Ark, there is an NPC where you can transfer your Tripods to other equipment or store them in an inventory. By the November update, you must have your Tripods stored in that inventory.
Unlike those on your equipment, which simply disappear, your stored inventory will be transferred to the new system, ensuring your progress is secured. You need to do this for each of your characters individually.
The November update is coming on November 16, likely from 9 AM. You still have time until then. However, after the update, keep in mind that you need to reapply your stored Tripods for them to be active.

How is this received by the fans? They have mixed feelings. Many are excited about the update, but some are also concerned, although not for themselves. Those who are already informed about what to expect are looking forward to the Tripod changes.
Many fans are worried about the mass of players who do not consume other media related to Lost Ark. Most of them will lose a lot of progress as soon as the update comes and will not understand why.
This problem could be alleviated by an in-game notification, which Amazon has implemented with the patch on November 9.
Others do not quite understand why Smilegate does not just program it in a way that equipped Tripods are also secured. However, there is no answer to this other than that it just is.
Many fans therefore find it important that this message reaches a large part of the players. Especially those who are currently not playing actively, as they are likely to lose the most since they would not receive in-game announcements.
What does the community say? In a thread on reddit, which also informs about the topic, some fans are eagerly discussing. We will let some of them speak (via reddit):
- kryu says: “They just roll out a new system and expect users to adjust, otherwise they lose all their hard work. How hard can it be to transfer the equipped Tripods into the new system? You can only shake your head.”
- MaraSov is worried: “Korea had an in-game notification for two weeks before the update announcing the changes. Roxx has already confirmed that there will be a notification about the patch notes, which would only give western players a few hours to prepare. That’s bad.”
- SockMan0 agrees: “That’s great, but what about the people who are currently taking a break from the game or not watching updates? They should just import everything.”
Lost Ark has at least established an in-game notification with the patch on November 9. From November 14, each of your characters will even receive mail with a reminder and some gifts. Currently, it looks like the update will hit inactive players hard.
What else is planned for the end of the year, the developers reveal in a new roadmap until December.
