A new bug is currently causing trouble in Lost Ark and is annoying many players. However, especially the fans who were already playing in New World have a bad premonition regarding this error.
What kind of bug is this? A short time ago we reported on a curious bug that caused the entire chat to crash with the input of “<3”. However, unfortunately, some players have now discovered that there is more behind it than just an overlooked, sweet gesture.
This is because the great concern that players had with the heart bug has come true, at least in part. Currently, it is possible for players to display their own HTML codes to a certain extent in the chat of Lost Ark.
It is still unclear to what extent this is the case in Lost Ark. However, it seems to currently be limited to minor inconveniences and crashing chat windows. That this error can also have particularly severe consequences was recently shown by another MMORPG from Amazon, namely New World.
New World and the sausages
There, players were even able to complete specific quests directly by entering a code in the chat due to a very similar bug, thereby farming gold. Or even generate an item link to an item that doesn’t exist at all. This then caused New World to crash completely and Steam to perform a repair.
Why is it about the sausage? It was particularly popular in New World to exploit this bug to make giant sausages appear on players’ screens. It was indeed possible to simply enlarge all images found in the game and post them in the chat.
In Lost Ark, we are currently seeing a similar development, just without the images. Right now, it is already possible to change the font and especially the font size in the chat of Lost Ark, and even the speech bubble above your head can be manipulated. This is often used to spread specific memes that occur in the MMORPG.
While some fans are currently just wondering why their chat window keeps crashing or why massively large letters appear in the small window, other players already have bad premonitions.
“Great, now I can be yelled at by bots”
How does the community react? A large part of the players is currently taking it easy and with humor. However, especially the fans who were previously in New World see the situation less calmly and are worried about what else could come.
Amazon itself seems to take the bug seriously; on reddit, many players are already reporting that they have been temporarily banned for exploiting this chat bug, even if it was just for fun. This also creates a good mood in the community and gives fans the feeling that Amazon is keeping their needs in mind.
Moreover, players are concerned that bots could soon figure out the trick and thus promote their dubious offers in enormous size. Besides these concerns, reddit is in a relaxed mood and completely follows the comment from Khalmoon: “I can’t stop laughing, how can Amazon let this happen TWICE?”
A lot of humor and little understanding
What do the fans say? A highlight of the discussion about the error are definitely the rather funny comments in a reddit thread, where the topic recently came up. It currently has over 550 comments. Therefore, we would like to share some of them with you:
- In response to a user comment stating that it doesn’t work with color, PrimitiveMammal replies: “Yes, it works great. I was only banned for 24 hours after I tried it.”
- Mofu__Mofu writes: “New World players are already shaking” to which another user responds: “Prepare yourselves, the sausages are coming.”
- Akaicewolf also writes: “The legend of the sausages is not yet fully told. They may no longer exist in New World, but they will live on.”
- WolvesbaneYT thinks it’s even worse than in New World: “Hey, it’s even worse than there. We only had harmless giant sausages, you are crashing entire chats.”
- Huehueleaguepro takes it humorously and says: “My LaiLais have just been officially improved!” (LaiLai is an insider from the Punika region of Lost Ark. You hear this term particularly often there.)
