Rank 1: Ancalagon
Ancalagon is regarded as the first winged fire dragon and is said to have been the largest of his kind. He belonged to Morgoth, who deployed him along with other dragons during the War of Wrath against the people of the Valar.
Ancalagon led the fire dragons, showing strength and authority over his kind. This allowed them to carry out terrible attacks, in which Ancalagon displayed all his strength. He was fearsome, brutal, and managed to push back the armies of the Valar. In doing so, he utilized thunder, lightning, and his fire breath, which was hotter than that of any other dragon. However, the great black dragon met his demise at the hands of the elf Earendil, the father of Elrond. During a battle high in the skies, Earendil managed to kill the dragon. The lifeless body of Ancalagon then fell from the sky and destroyed the mountain Thangorodrim. The fight against Morgoth was thus won, and one of the most legendary dragons from Middle-earth met his end.
