It’s time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG news in two minutes.” We summarize the most important news around the best genre in the world. Look forward to creative homes from GW2, the open beta of New World Aeternum, the start of the first season of WoW: The War Within, and much more.
The highlights of the week:
- For Black Desert a new expansion, Land of the Morning Light: Seoul, has been released and MeinMMO had the opportunity to see many of the changes ahead of time from the developers.
- On September 13, 2024, the open beta phase for New World Aeternum started. MeinMMO had already played the new console version – the conclusion: Don’t worry, New World Aeternum is still an MMORPG, and a good one, even on console.
What else has happened? Season 1 of WoW: The War Within has started and this brings not only a new raid instance, ranked PvP, as well as Mythic Plus dungeons. So now Brann Bronzebeard is harder to level – players are upset, and those who want the best possible gear from the depths need to pay close attention. Additionally, there was trouble regarding the scaling of the difficulty of the depths.
Here is the trailer for the new expansion of Black Desert:
Battle in EVE Online costs 1.1 trillion ISK
This is what happened with the major MMORPGs:
- WoW might currently have as many players as never before, but not thanks to The War Within.
- Via a hotfix, the folk of the Earthen from WoW: The War Within received a new racial ability.
- Just before the start of the world-first race in the first raid of WoW: The War Within various professional players received multi-day bans.
- A long dream finally comes true. You will soon be able to become Sylvanas Windrunner in World of Warcraft and pay homage to the Banshee Queen.
- Since A Realm Reborn, the community of Final Fantasy XIV has been arguing about whether dungeons are too hard, too easy, or too boring. Feedback for the dungeons of the new expansion Dawntrail was also initially rather negative. Now, the director says that players find it just right.
- One more FFXIV: In the Square MMORPG, there is a level 70 boss that cannot be defeated alone even with a level 100 character in top gear. A persistent player took on the challenge and managed to succeed after over 200 hours of gameplay.

- Greg “Ghostcrawler” Street has once again written about the design process of MMORPGs. This time, many modern genre representatives like World of Warcraft are criticized for making what he believes is a critical mistake during the leveling phase.
