There are issues with Lord of the Rings Online: the EU servers have been moved, but not to Amsterdam, but to New Jersey.
This has gone strangely: We reported a week ago that the long-announced server move for Lord of the Rings Online was upcoming. Since January 2015, the status was that the European servers would move to Amsterdam. And that was also our knowledge last week – and the knowledge of the LOTRO community.
However, this seems to have shifted relatively last minute. When European players now perform the ping test, they still end up in the USA.
As it turns out, Turbine has placed both US and EU servers from Boston to New Jersey. Due to “contractual obligations and logistical reasons“, it was simpler to take this step first and then see what to do next once data had been collected. Further steps are yet to be determined. This was announced by the executive producer of the game in a discussion on the Lord of the Rings Online forum.
Currently, LOTRO players are complaining about severe connection problems since the move and are far from being in good spirits.
