The classic server of the MMORPG The Lord of the Rings Online has launched and has been received so well by players that the developers had to open a second one right away.
The developers did not expect the surge on the now launched Legendary server of LotRO. But they reacted quickly.
Great rush for the Legendary server
What happened? On November 8, the Legendary server “Anor” opened its gates to provide LotRO fans with a progressive gaming experience that should feel similar to the launch of the MMORPG in 2007.
The surge was so great that there were long queues and lags. The developers therefore opened a second server, “Ithil”, on the same day. Those who started on Anor can transfer their character to Ithil.
What the Legendary server offers: The Legendary server of The Lord of the Rings Online is not a typical classic server, as it also includes newer features that were added after the release of the MMO.

Not a true classic server
How the Legendary server is received by players: Generally, the new Legendary server is very well received in the LotRO community. Many are returning now because they want to experience the gameplay of “back then” again.
But some veterans feel the server does not go far enough. Some had wished for a truly classic gaming experience, without all the new features of recent years.
