The First Descendant had a good start on Steam in 2024, but since then the player numbers have been declining. Those who are still playing are currently being entertained mainly with sexy gameplay.
What kind of game is this? The First Descendant is a loot shooter for PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is developed by Nexon and was released in July 2024 as a free-to-play title.
After a very strong start – at peak, there were over 264,000 players – the game lost a large part of its active player base. Currently, only about 11,500 players are regularly online (via steamdb.info).
In a two-hour livestream, the developers will present the Season 2 update for February 2025. This will include minor adjustments as well as a hot tub where players can relax – preferably with appropriate bikini skins from the in-game shop. The complete stream can be found on YouTube.
Minor Adjustments and a Place to “Relax”
What does the new update include? In terms of gameplay, there are adjustments to some weapons, new events, bug fixes, and improvements to the Void Erosion Purge. This is now said to feel more rewarding and easier to handle. The exact patch notes can be found at tfd.nexon.com.
Players will have to wait a bit longer for bigger adjustments. The issue that certain meta-weapons are almost a must at higher difficulty levels has not yet been addressed, for example. This is said to be complex due to the varying strengths of individual Descendants, according to the developers.
Another new feature is the Albion Hot Springs. In the hot tub, you can relax with other descendants after a tough day. Accordingly, the developers sell revealing swimsuits and bikinis in the in-game shop.
The hot tub, including skins, is no surprise for those who still follow the game: the developers have been increasingly pursuing a “sex sells” approach for some time now. Especially the female descendants attract attention mainly through their appearance – and soon the physics will also “underscore” this.
