Look, Fortnite – Call of Duty is now also going Battle Royale

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now a major player in the battle royale market with its multiplayer mode “Blackout”. Do Fortnite, PUBG, and others have to fear for their players now?

After weeks of teasers and rumors, it is finally confirmed. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will have its own battle royale mode. The team revealed it during the reveal stream on May 17. The BR mode is called “Blackout” and promises to be a unique experience in this survival genre.

For months, a battle has been taking place between the battle royale genre’s Fortnite and PUBG. Now Call of Duty is entering the ring and, with its massive community, is a serious competitor.

In the new Blackout mode, players will compete against each other on a map and, as usual, fight for survival until only one remains. But this is not just any mode. Blackout is “battle royale in Black Ops style,” the developers declared firmly. Many elements and content will be familiar to you from past Call of Duty games.

How many players fit into a Blackout match? According to Treyarch, the Blackout map is the largest they have ever created. It is about 1500 times larger than Nuketown. The number of players competing in these matches is still unclear.

Some locations on the map are snippets from popular older parts of the series. You even have access to weapons with different ammunition types and items from previous Black Ops games. This includes the RC car!

Which characters can you play? You can choose between Mason, Hudson, Reznov, and other well-known personalities from the series. Whether these are only available as skins or actually have different gameplay remains to be seen.

And what about vehicles? To move around on the Blackout map, you can use air, water, and land vehicles.
