LoL Worlds: Fnatic meets the final boss and it is the damned Ryze

However, Doinb has already impressed on Ryze this year and he pulled it out now at the Worlds.

LoL Champion Ryze
Ryze, somehow he is always there at the Worlds.

Doinb played the mage Ryze in three of the four games, and Fnatic found no way against him:

  • Doinb went 5/0/11 in Match 1.
  • 5/3/6 in Match 3 – which Funplus lost.
  • And he played brutally 9/0/7 in Match 4.

There was no way to deal with Ryze. It was simply a strong team performance around Ryze.

Additionally, FunPlus Phoenix’s jungler, Tian, was superior to Fnatic’s jungler, Broxah, and outplayed him regularly.

Why no ban?

This is being discussed: On reddit , players are discussing somewhat incredulously about the series. Naturally, there are many Fnatic fans who are now disappointed: The Chinese were simply better during the draft.

Hardly anyone can explain how after Game 1, Doinb was allowed to touch Ryze again. The level he was at was simply deadly.

After every rework of Ryze it was said: “That’s it, the champ is dead – Ryze will play no role at the Worlds” – but then someone always comes along who pulls him out.

A Chinese team already safely in the LoL Worlds finals

What’s next: With that, 2 teams from China are through and stand in the semifinals of the LoL Worlds 2019. There are still 2 matches missing between Korean and European teams. Then the semifinals will be complete.

On Sunday, we will see SKT1 against Splyce and DAMWON Gaming against G2 Esports.

On Saturday, November 2, the first all-Chinese semifinal will take place: Invictus Gaming meets FunPlus Phoenix. One team from China will therefore be in the finals – just which one remains to be seen.

Note: The title image is from a tweet by Fnatic immediately after their elimination from the Worlds 2019.

One on reddit says: If Doinb approached Fnatic, they would ask each other: “Why am I hearing boss music?”

In the LoL Worlds 2019, today the 2nd quarterfinal was played. The Europeans from Fnatic faced off against FunPlus Phoenix, the top team from China. They packed a mage, Ryze, into the midlane, against which Fnatic found no counter. Thus, one of the favorites from Europe has been eliminated from the world championship of League of Legends .

What was played? It was the 2nd quarterfinal at the LoL Worlds 2019. This was played today afternoon until early evening in Madrid.

Fnatic is a team from Europe and is regarded as the clear number 2 in the region behind G2 Esports. Fnatic is one of the most popular eSports organizations in Europe.

ADC Martin “Rekkles” Larsson (23) has built a great reputation in Europe over the years. His support, Hylissang, is considered top-notch. Additionally, midlaner Nemesis seemed to really step up at the Worlds.

Actually, the team looked incredibly strong.

LoL Worlds 2019 Fnatic Victory
At this point, everything was still cool for Fnatic: The team managed to survive the group stage.

Fnatic has experienced a resurgence in the past months at LoL and was regarded as a dark horse to win the championship.

At least they managed to escape the death group C and eliminated Royal Never Give Up with star player Uzi.

FunPlus Phoenix is the number 1 team from China, but was quite an unknown before the start of the LoL Worlds 2019.

This was their first time qualifying for an international tournament. Hardly anyone from Europe or North America had played against the Chinese. In 2019, however, they were the big winners of the regular season in China with a record of 13-2.

How the game went: It was quite brutal. FunPlus Phoenix was able to win the series 3:1. The victories came in 26 minutes, 24 minutes, and 36 minutes.

The wins were relatively quick and clear. This corresponds to the “Chinese style”: They want to decide games in League of Legends early and enlarge small advantages in the laning phase until it comes down like an avalanche over the opponents: This is called “snowballing.”

The 2nd match ended 18:3, the 4th match 21:8. The series wasn’t really nail-biting exciting.

Ryze gets 19 kills for FunPlus Phoenix

What was decisive for the victory? The key player in the series was clearly the midlaner of the Chinese team: Kim “Doinb” Tae-Sang (22).

Note: The title image is from a tweet by Fnatic immediately after their elimination from the Worlds 2019.
