Currently, the LoL Worlds 2023 are taking place, the World Championships in League of Legends. In the semifinals on Saturday, November 11, two Chinese teams faced each other, BLG against WBG.
These teams played: In today’s match, the two Chinese teams Bilibili Gaming (BLG) and Weibo Gaming (WBG) competed against each other to determine which team enters the finals, taking place next Sunday, November 19. Previously, BLG won against the Korean favorite Gen G., the team with the powerful midlaner Chovy, who set a record. BLG emerged as the favorite anyway.
A week ago, Weibo Gaming (WBG) secured a clear victory with 3:0 against NRG. The top laner TheShy of WBG had already achieved a convincing 3:0 victory against Fnatic in the finals in 2018 when he still played for Invictus Gaming. Thus, for the first time, a Chinese team succeeded in winning the LoL Worlds.
WBG wins semifinals 3:2 against BLG
How did the last game go? It developed into an exciting race, but ultimately, Weibo Gaming (WBG) secured the victory against Bilibili Gaming (BLG) and thus advances to the finals. In the decisive game of the semifinals, the two teams faced off with the following set-up:
WBG: Maokai, Kalista, Renata, Ornn, Azir
BLG: K’Sante, Sejuani, Jayce, Caitlyn, Lux

was too far ahead, thus getting engaged and killed by Crisp and Light. Shortly after, Kalista (Light) secured two more kills as Weiwei came to gank on the bot lane with Maokai and caught and held Lux with his ultimate. They then went for the tower dive on Caitlyn and secured the third kill for Kalista and also grabbed the Cloud Drake.

Neck-and-neck race
BLG made it back into the game, and Caitlyn (Elk) secured the shutdown on Kalista, with Light in the meantime standing at 4/0. But shortly after in minute 21, BLG lost to WBG in the battle for the Baron, allowing WBG to push hard. Around minute 28, the next big team fight was at the Baron. BLG’s top laner Bin
held off WBG from joining the Baron – especially Maokai – so BLG could ultimately secure the Baron.
What were the highlights? Around minute 31, the two teams fought for the Earth Dragon. It looked good for BLG, but Light was finally able to secure the Dragonsoul for WBG with Kalista spears and achieved a double kill. Only Caitlyn and Lux remained, with WBG standing on the brink of finishing the game. But they managed to defend the last tower in the base.

The final showdown
Shortly thereafter, the last fight took place in the mid lane. WBG’s top laner TheShy with Ornn and Weiwei with Maokai delivered a clean combination of their ultimates, allowing Lux (On) to be taken out along with Sejuani (XUN) right after. The last three tried to defend the base, but WBG was finally able to finish the game and thus secure the victory in the semifinals.
Today, Weibo Gaming (WBG) secured the victory against Bilibili Gaming (BLG) and thus enters the finals, which takes place next week on November 19. A particularly nice detail: Today is also the birthday of top laner TheShy, and the victory against BLG can be seen as a special gift for him.
