On January 5, LoL Wild Rift announced 5 new champions. Almost 16 days later, the last of them, Teemo, was released. And he is instantly hated. Either he dominates the game or completely fails.
What is going on? With Patch 2.0, 5 new Yordle champions were announced, all of whom are now in the game. One of them is Teemo, who has a large fan base in the PC version of League of Legends.
Accordingly, many players tried out the new champion right away. And for many, it did not go well. In the Wild Rift subreddit, there are countless threads where Teemo players with 0 kills and many deaths were the reason why their team lost.
This especially frustrated teammates in ranked matches. Instead of getting familiar with the new champ and trying him out in normal or bot matches, some dove straight into ranked on day 1. And it did not end well.
On the other hand, there are also players who master Teemo well and dominate with him. There are screenshots of players with 12, 16, and even 19 kills and hardly any deaths (via reddit).
This, in turn, leads to frustration among enemies who have not yet learned how to play against this champion.
But how strong is Teemo really?
Rework for Wild Rift makes Teemo weaker
How does Teemo work in Wild Rift? For the mobile version, the champion has been significantly reworked:
- His passive no longer makes him invisible when he stands still. Instead, it ensures that all attacks poison the target and deal bonus damage over time.
- Instead of passive and active movement speed, Teemo now gets a dodge roll from the ability “Move Quick” and then movement speed for a short duration.
- Guerilla Warfare, the former passive, is now an active ability. It briefly cloaks Teemo and grants additional attack speed after being revealed.
- The Blinding Dart and the mushrooms remain roughly the same.
This is how strong Teemo is in Wild Rift: On reddit, user SecualHarassadar published an analysis of Teemo’s abilities. He concludes that he was weakened in many respects compared to the PC version:
- His Toxic Shot deals about 18% less ability damage than on PC.
- The Blinding Dart deals less damage and blinds for a shorter duration.
- The mushrooms deal significantly less damage, making them almost useless.
SecualHarassadar is not alone in his opinion about Teemo. In several threads, the rework is criticized, and the champion is portrayed as too weak. User Byroco writes:
He is extremely weak, as if the developers were too afraid after all the “Satan is coming to us” hype. Thus, he is completely useless, his mushrooms only serve as wards.
He gets killed all the time, provides no real advantages in team fights and his damage is low. Riot, please buff him!
What does this mean for Teemo? In the coming days and weeks, many players will continue to try Teemo, and most will probably end up helping the enemy rather than their own team.
This currently makes him the most hated champion in Wild Rift.
