The new LoL Wild Rift has started its beta in Germany and Europe. We at MeinMMO want to make it easier for you to get started, and therefore we present simple champions that are suitable for you.
Who is this list aimed at? LoL Wild Rift currently offers you 49 different champions. The champions presented here specifically target two groups of players:
- Players who are encountering LoL for the first time
- Players who are familiar with LoL but need to get used to the controls of Wild Rift
We will introduce you to one champion for each position and tell you what to pay attention to while playing. They were selected based on handling difficulty and their survivability when you make mistakes. Those who want to play the best champions right away can find them in our tier list.

Annie – The easiest champion in the mid lane
Annie is one of the oldest champions in League of Legends and is easy to play. She has only a few abilities that require aiming or have particularly long range. Additionally, she has a stun that can hit multiple enemies at once.
What are her abilities?
- Passive: Every 4th spell cast by Annie generates a stun
- The first ability is a fireball that is thrown at enemies and grants mana for each enemy killed with it
- The second ability is a fire area effect right in front of Annie that deals AoE damage
- The third ability generates a shield that absorbs damage and deals damage to enemies if they attack
- The ultimate summons the bear Tibbers, who fights at her side for 30 seconds
How to maximize her abilities: You should level the abilities in the same order as the game dictates. First ability 1, then 2, then 3. Level the ultimate whenever you can.

These runes you use:
- Electrocute
- Brutal

- You start with an Amplifying Tome
- 1st item: Luden’s Echo
- 2nd item: Awakened Soulstealer

Which champions in the mid lane are also beginner-friendly? In addition to Annie, you can also start with Lux or Ahri. Ahri is slightly more complicated with her skill shots, but she is unlocked early and is very helpful even in higher ranks.
Malphite – The easiest champion in the top lane
Malphite is a very defensive champion and thus forgives many mistakes. He is not very mobile and has a simple and understandable kit of abilities. This makes him an ideal champion for beginners.
What are his abilities?
- Passive: Malphite receives a shield if he has not taken damage for 8 seconds
- The first ability hurls a disc that deals damage to enemies and slows them down
- The second ability grants you passive armor and increases your damage for the next 6 seconds when activated.
- The third ability deals AoE damage around Malphite.
- The ultimate causes Malphite to dash forward and knock enemies up at the target location.
How to maximize his abilities: You should maximize the third ability first. Then follow with abilities 2 and 1. You should always upgrade the ultimate whenever it is available.
These summoner spells you should choose:
- Flash
- Ghost or Ignite
These runes you use: Malphite focuses on defense, which is also reinforced by his rune selection:
- Grasp of the Undying
- Gathering Storm
- Conditioning

These are your items:
- You start the game with a Cloth Armor
- 1st item: Ninja Tabi
- 2nd item: Iceborn Gauntlet

Which champions in the top lane are also beginner-friendly? In addition to Malphite, you can also use Garen in the top lane. He is usually unlocked much earlier. However, if you want to stick to the top lane in the long term, you should stick with Malphite or later learn Fiora.
Master Yi – The easiest jungler
Master Yi is a jungler and benefits from having a healing ability, and he also deals a lot of damage without needing to land skill shots or perform crazy combinations. He is therefore the ideal jungler for newcomers.
The only downside is that Yi is quite vulnerable to crowd control effects like stuns from enemies.
What are his abilities?
- Passive: Every 4th attack deals additional damage
- The first ability makes you untargetable for a short time while you jump on up to 4 enemies and deal damage to them
- The second ability lets you meditate for 4 seconds, restoring health points
- The third ability grants Master Yi passive additional attack damage. When activated, the damage is temporarily increased for 6 seconds.
- The ultimate makes Yi immune to slows, 25% faster, and increases his attack speed for a total of 7 seconds
How to maximize his abilities: You should first maximize the first ability, then the second, and finally the third ability. Always level the ultimate whenever you can.

- Conqueror
- Hunter – Vampirism
- Hunter – Titan
- Hunter – Genius
These are your items:
- You start with a Longsword
- 1st item: Gluttonous Greaves
- 2nd item: Blade of the Ruined King
- 3rd item: Infinity Blade
- 4th item: Phantom Dancer
- 5th item: Frozen Mallet
Which champions in the mid lane are also beginner-friendly? The junglers Graves and Xin Zhao are also suitable for beginners in the jungle. Graves is unlocked early, while Xin Zhao is often considered the strongest jungler in the game by late game.
Jinx – The easiest AD carry
Jinx is an AD carry with a lot of range and easy-to-understand abilities. While you also need to hit skill shots here, Jinx is unlocked early, and you can experiment with her in the tutorial.
What are her abilities?
- Passive: Jinx gains movement and attack speed whenever she kills a champion or destroys a turret
- Her first ability allows you to switch between two different weapons – The Rocket Launcher consumes mana, but her attacks deal AoE damage. The Mini-Gun provides additional attack speed but deals less damage
- Her second ability is a skill shot that deals damage to enemies
- Her third ability consists of small traps that are thrown and hold enemies on contact.
- The ultimate is a large skill shot that flies across the entire map and deals significant damage on hit.
How to maximize her abilities: Level the second ability first, then the first, and finally the third. Always level the ultimate whenever you can.

These runes you use:
- Fleet Footwork
- Brutal
- Regeneration
- Manaflow Band
These are your items:
- You start with a Longsword
- 1st item: Infinity Edge
- 2nd item: Gluttonous Greaves
- 3rd item: Ruunan’s Hurricane
- 4th item: Bloodthirster
- Now you upgrade the shoes with the enchantment “Quicksilver”
- 5th item: Guardian Angel
Which champions in the bot lane are also beginner-friendly? Ezreal relies on many skill shots but is a champion who is mobile due to his abilities and can escape precarious situations. Jinx cannot do that. However, you should have some experience with Ezreal.
Blitzcrank – The easiest supporter
Blitzcrank is not only an extremely strong but also a very fun support. He has a lot of defense and can knock enemies into the air or silence them (then they cannot use abilities). Those are useful tools.
However, his highlight is the “Grab,” which allows you to pull enemies towards you. This trains your skill shots and you are often thrilled when you land a hit.
What are his abilities?
- Passive: Blitzcrank gains a shield when his health falls below 35%
- His first ability is a skill shot that pulls the affected enemy toward himself.
- His second ability increases Blitzcrank’s movement and attack speed for 4 seconds
- With his third ability, Blitzcrank knocks an enemy into the air
- The ultimate creates an AoE effect around Blitzcrank that deals damage to enemies and silences them
How to maximize his abilities: First enhance your ability 1, the “Grab.” Then level ability 3 and finally 2. Level the ultimate whenever you can.

- You start with a Cloth Armor
- 1st item: Boots of Swiftness

- 3rd item: Randuin’s Omen
- 4th item: Dead Man’s Plate
- 5th item: Abyssal Mask
Which champions are also beginner-friendly as supporters? The two supporters Sona and Soraka mainly focus on healing their allies. However, they can take very little damage. Braum, on the other hand, is also tanky but harder to play than Blitzcrank.
