After a few teasers, the reveal came a few days ago: The new dragon champion is called Aurelion Sol and will soon enrich the League of Legends universe. But what can he do? We will show you his abilities.
All Abilities of Aurelion Sol at a Glance
Passive: Center of the Universe
Our dragon is permanently surrounded by 3 small stars that deal magic damage to enemies when hit and also cause spell effects.
Q: Star Eruption
Similar to Anivia’s Q ability, Aurelion Sol shoots a star in the target direction. This explodes at maximum range or when the ability is triggered again. If the dragon accompanies this star during its flight, the star grows larger, increasing the explosion range.
W: Celestial Expansion
By activating this ability, the 3 stars fly further away from Aurelion Sol and their strength is significantly increased.
However, this ability costs mana per second. If mana runs out or the ability is deactivated, the stars will return to their usual distance around Aurelion Sol.
E: Legendary Comet
Passive: When Aurelion Sol is moving straight, his movement speed is increased – if he turns, he slows down. Part of this speed is stacked as so-called escape speed. However, these stacks are lost when taking damage.
Active: Once he has reached the maximum escape speed stacks, he can retract his stars and begin to fly!
He can fly over all walls and over a long distance. And this only goes in one direction, turning is not possible. Once he takes damage during this, he falls back to the ground and his stars orbit him again.
R: Voice of Light
His ultimate ability shoots a wave of starfire in the target direction. Hit enemies are slowed and take damage.
If an enemy is within melee range while Aurelion Sol casts Voice of Light, they are knocked back to the outer orbit of the 3 stars.
Patrick says: Personally, I am a bit disappointed with the abilities. The ultimate ability doesn’t feel “ultimate” at all. The concept doesn’t convince me so far – was there too much haste? Maybe they wanted to show a quick reaction after keeping the players waiting for Ao Shin for so long.

I have the impression that creativity has been left behind with Aurelion Sol. The Q ability doesn’t make it any better and strikes me as rather boring.
Nevertheless, I am very much looking forward to the champion and will certainly buy him right away. And the wallpaper turned out really beautiful. Artwork like this is just what the creators of League of Legends excel at. By the way, here is the official presentation of Aurelion Sol on leagueoflegends.com.
