If anyone has influence over League of Legends, it is apparently Twitch streamer Tyler “Tyler1” Steinkamp and the subreddit for LoL: The streamer encountered a bug in LoL, briefly turned into the Hulk, and broke his keyboard. A key employee from Riot reacted to the outburst with a promise.
What kind of bug was it?
- Tyler1 was in a LoL match and his jungler, who was playing Nunu, forgot to select the skill “Smite” – which is extremely important for a jungler. Normally, junglers only “forget” Smite when they are AFK during skill selection.
- When a professional player forgot Smite, he had to pay a month’s salary as a penalty.
- Tyler1 wanted to start a /remake: The function ends a game honorably, so no one loses points. But that didn’t work because he received a system response that the /remake function is only available if a player is “AFK”. Although Nunu was at the fountain, he apparently did not count as AFK.
Tyler1 curses the “damn company”
That was the streamer’s outburst: When Tyler1 saw that it wasn’t working, he freaked out, slammed his keyboard, and then said:
We can’t do a remake? You must be kidding me! You’re kidding me. I’ve been sitting here all day and everyone is making remakes against me and it never bugs out. I do it once: first game of the day, my Nunu doesn’t take Smite – God knows why not – and we can’t do a remake and I take a damn loss. Bro, I can’t take this any longer. If it’s not these damn monkeys bending me over and giving it to me, it’s the damn company itself.

How did this get to Riot? The thread “Tyler1 is totally getting wrecked by Riot” quickly came with the clip on reddit and received many upvotes.
A player asked: How could it not be noticed that a player doesn’t even leave the fountain, the starting point?
Other players were also annoyed by the system, which apparently does not do its job.
Producer promises to fix the problem
This is how Riot reacted: A developer from Riot Games, who appeared under the name “Auberaun”, was almost immediately on the scene and said: “We will fix this.”
He also promised to take another look at the start timer for the remake; it should count approximately when the minions first meet in the middle.
Developer says “I really fucking care”, what reddit says about LoL
Does Riot really care? People are asking on reddit in disbelief, they don’t feel like Riot is addressing the issue quickly.
However, the dev says: He understands that trust must be earned.
But this is a very clear promise. People can now see for themselves whether it happens or not.
He cannot currently name an exact time frame for when it will be fixed; it’s a Saturday, but they will schedule additional work to improve the feature.
The developer adds: Reddit is just a small part of the English-speaking LoL community, but what people there say is particularly important to him. Because the people here are strongly connected to LoL.
Who is this developer?? At Riot, Auberaun is developer Christopher Roberts (via youtube): He was previously a QA analyst, has since risen to Game Producer, and is apparently a real LoL expert.
Although he is not as present in public and on social media as other LoL devs, he seems to take feedback on reddit very seriously.
