The legendary midlaner Faker is considered the best player of League of Legends of all time. But even he makes mistakes and dies completely needlessly in the jungle at level 1. The Twitch streamer Tyler1 watches as the legendary player fails and looks for explanations. Is he hacked, is he just trolling, or does Faker have something wrong with him?
Who are the two?
- The man with the muscles is Tyler “Tyler” Steinkamp, the biggest Twitch streamer for League of Legends. A pretty rough guy, but he melts for Team T1 and Faker.
- The man next to him is Lee “Faker” Sang-heyok: The South Korean is regarded as the best player of all time in LoL. He became a world champion three times early on and is back in the finals of Worlds in 2022. Faker is so good that he has the nickname “The Undying Demon King”, and his jungler during the World Championship run “Bengi” had the nickname “The Right Hand of God”.
The two have often appeared together. It is known that T1, like many LoL players, idolizes Faker – how Faker feels about Tyler1 is only a matter of speculation.
What do you see in the clip? Tyler1 is watching a clip of Faker on Twitch. It shows Faker dying at the Blue Buff with the champion Bel’Veth in a solo queue game, which is a mob that grants an important buff when defeated. He fails at a maneuver that junglers around the world pull off hundreds of times every day:
- Faker receives a leash from the mob that grants the Blue Buff – someone is helping him by hitting the mob
- Then he knocks the Blue Buff down to a few HP, moves away from it to save time
- While the Blue Buff is hitting Faker, he already pulls the next mob to save time
But something goes wrong with the action, the Blue Buff is pulled too far from its spawn point, “resets”, returns to its original location, and regenerates health points.
Faker tries to salvage the situation, kills the second mob, goes after the Blue Buff, but miscalculates and dies in the process.
Tyler1 is sure: It was lag
How does Tyler1 react to the situation? Tyler1 can’t understand the action, he starts grinning in disbelief as he sees Faker clearly pulling the Blue Buff too far away. Tyler then looks for an explanation for why his idol, “the greatest player of all time”, fails like this.
“Is he hacked? Faker? Big Faker? What’s going on?” asks Tyler1.
In the chat, fans speculate: “Is he drunk?” – “That’s definitely not Faker.”
In the end, Tyler1 is sure: A server lag must be behind it!
But it can also be seen as a sign that even the greatest LoL player of all time can make a big mistake in a meaningless match in the solo queue during an absolute routine task.
