In League of Legends the Worlds 2022 are coming up: The best players in the world are preparing for the World Championship in North America in the “Champion Queue”. This leads to some wild situations: The Canadian pro and Twitch streamer Philip “Philip” Zeng from FlyQuest wanted to grab Faker’s head: A kill he could tell his grandchildren about. But the unkillable demon king is simply from another world.
This is the situation:
- Today, the LoL Worlds 2022 begin in North America. Fnatic needs to deliver right now and battle through the Play-Ins.
- Riot Games has given pro players from all over the world special accounts with all champions beforehand: The pros are playing wildly against each other in the “Champion’s Queue”: The queue is only for pro players and high-ranked amateurs.
- This leads to “normal pros” from the USA now facing the world stars from Asia, whom they usually admire from afar. The biggest star in LoL remains the three-time World Champion Faker.
“It’s Faker – I’m going to do it”
This was the situation: Philip is the top laner for Flyquest – a decent but not outstanding team from the USA. The 20-year-old also streams on Twitch.
The top laner was playing with Fiora and was already relatively low on HP; he actually wanted to teleport back to base from the bush on the top lane. Then he spotted a visibly battered Faker, the most famous player, coming to the top lane:
- Philip excitedly says in chat to his buddy: “It’s Faker! I’m going to do it!”
- His friend begs him: “No, please! Don’t do it, don’t do it.”
But Philip won’t be stopped, hiding in the bush.
His plan: The careless Faker just wants to quickly clear the minions; he can’t possibly know that he’s lurking in the bush, so he will ambush Faker from behind and take him out with a swift attack from the bush.
What goes wrong? Faker uses just one ability of Azir, the ultimate, to clear the minions. He hits Philip, who is waiting in the bush for his moment and kills him in the process. He even nets an extra 150 bonus gold.
Philip can only laugh hysterically and yells: “This can’t be happening. This can’t be happening.”
How is the clip discussed? On reddit, the clip is discussed under the title: “When you try to outplay Faker” and fans are laughing their heads off at the clip:
- One person says: “I would like to see Faker’s reaction to the kill”
- Another says: “He knew you were there. Faker just wanted you to believe he was only trying to clear the wave. But in reality, it was just a pretext.”

What else is Faker doing in LoL right now? Faker is currently enjoying himself in LoL: Here he just steals a Baron from an opposing team.
But even Faker has problems (via sportskeeda): Because everyone knows him, even in North America, it can sometimes happen that he ends up on a team where his own teammates want to be remembered by playing really poorly or are such fanboys that they can’t get anything done.
As Sprtskeeda reports, he was placed into a group with weak players and had a very bad experience:
- While he had to play with 3 university students
- he faced superstars from his own team T1 or Evil Geniuses on the opposing team
But Faker wouldn’t take it and left after 2 matches from the Champion Queue.
