In League of Legends, runes are one of the strongest pillars for the various champions and their builds. However, runes can also be too strong and define the meta. One of the strongest runes in LoL will be removed in the next patch.
With the next patch 14.10, Riot is removing two familiar runes. The first is Predator, a rather unremarkable rune, likely removed due to low popularity. It gets more interesting with Lethal Tempo.
- With Lethal Tempo, you gain attack speed when you attack enemy champions
- This is possible with up to 6 stacks
- Once you reach 6 stacks, you gain additional attack range, and your attack speed has no limit until you lose the stacks
The rune is not only interesting for ADCs but also for melee champions like Master Yi, Yasuo, or Tryndamere. These champions can also utilize the attack speed, and especially the improved range is incredibly useful.
Looking at the statistics on U.GG, you can see that the rune is very successful on certain champions. In Emerald and higher, Kog’Maw has a very good win rate of 53.1%. Tryndamere also has a win rate of 51.23% with the rune. The next patch on 15.05.2024 will remove it. Many players from the community think that’s really good.
One of the best changes ever
On Reddit, user HotButteryPopcorn- posted a thread titled: The Lethal Tempo removal is one of the best changes ever
. In it, the user explains that he thinks this change is really good. The biggest argument is that this rune has removed many weaknesses from champions. Champions that were weak at the start of the game become stronger through the rune.
Fun is also a significant factor for the user, as according to him, it is simply not fun to play against many Lethal Tempo champions.
The thread is being actively discussed on Reddit. Some agree with the opinion but also believe that some champions will struggle due to the removal:

How will the meta change? This cannot be said right now. Many of the strong and popular ADCs successfully use this rune. Therefore, the bot lane will particularly be affected by this change. At the same time, changes to the bot lane can also be relevant for other lanes. If AP is played again in the bot lane, then more AD is needed elsewhere.
The melee champions in the other lanes will still have good options with Conqueror or Press the Attack. These melee champions are especially disliked in lower ranks. However, many LoL players would also like to return to lower ranks: LoL players miss their times in lower ranks: “I regret getting better”
