In the finale of Worlds 2023 of League of Legends, the new champion Hwei was unveiled, a mage who shines with a brush and his creativity. MeinMMO reveals what the champion is capable of.
When will the new champion be released? In the midst of the LoL Worlds 2023, where T1 dominantly claimed victory, Hwei was announced. The new visionary champion Hwei is expected to appear on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with patch 13.24.
What abilities does Hwei have? Hwei is expected to be a complex and versatile champion. He is a mage in the mid lane, set to be unique to play with ten different spells. He fights artistically with a brush and his creativity.
Through his 3 motifs, he can execute various combinations, making him a Swiss army knife. He can provide movement, restore mana, burst, slow, grant vision, and distribute shields – making him incredibly versatile.

Hwei, the visionary and a Swiss army knife
These are his abilities:
(Passive) Signature of the Visionary: Hwei marks enemy champions with his signature
, when he initially deals damage to them with an ability. If he hits an enemy with two damage-dealing abilities, Hwei’s signature is placed on the ground beneath the opponent. The signature explodes after a short delay, dealing magical damage to all enemies in range.

This motif specializes in damage. The three abilities Hwei has with this motif:
QQ Devastating Fire
:
- Hwei paints a fiery ball that flies towards the target. It explodes upon hitting the first enemy or at maximum range, dealing magical damage to all enemies in the vicinity plus a percentage of maximum health as damage.
QW Severing Bolt
:
- Hwei paints a devastating bolt at the target location with great range. After a delay, the bolt strikes, dealing magical damage. Immobilized or isolated enemies take more damage based on their missing health.
QE Molten Fissure
:
- Hwei paints a fissure that erupts in lava and leaves a trail. Each eruption deals magical damage to affected enemies. Enemies within the lava area take magical damage per second and are slowed.
W-Subject: Serenity

WQ Fleeting Current
:
Hwei paints a flowing river in a line that grants him and his allies increased movement speed for a few seconds.
WW Pool of Reflection
:
- Hwei forms a protective pond at the target location that lasts for a few seconds. Allied champions within the area receive an instant shield that becomes stronger over a few seconds while they remain there.
WE Stirring Lights
:
- Hwei paints three swirling lights that revolve around him for several seconds. Hwei’s next three attacks or spells deal additional magical damage and grant mana on hit.

EQ Grim Visage
:
- Hwei fires a terrifying face that deals magical damage to the first enemy hit and scares them for a short time.
EW Gaze of the Abyss
:
- Hwei paints an
Abyssal
eye at the target location, granting vision and targeting the closest visible enemy champion. After a short delay, the eye fires at the targeted champion, holding the first enemy in its path for a few seconds and dealing magical damage to them.
EE Crushing Maw
:
- Hwei paints crushing jaws that deal magical damage to hit enemies and pull them toward the center, slowing them by a certain amount that rapidly decays.
R Spiraling Despair
:
- Hwei creates a vision of pure despair that clings to an enemy champion for several seconds. The vision expands and overwhelms all enemies it touches, dealing magical damage per second. Enemies within the zone will gradually be afflicted with stacks of despair. Each stack causes a percentage slow. When the vision concludes, it shatters, dealing magical damage.

The new champion in League of Legends, Hwei the visionary, takes the stage and promises to be one of the most complex characters in the game. With an impressive ten unique abilities, this creative mid-lane champion seems to have the right ability for every conceivable situation. Due to his versatility and supporting capabilities, I can also imagine that we will see him not only in the mid lane but also more frequently as a support in the bot lane.
