In League of Legends, the arrival of a new champion is imminent and the face is not new. Ambessa Medarda is a champion who already made an appearance in Arcane Season 1. Riot has now presented her abilities, which are fully focused on mobility.
What can Ambessa Medarda do? Ambessa Medarda is a new bruiser champion primarily designed for the top lane. Fans of Arcane will already know her. Due to her mobility, she could also function in the jungle. Her abilities do not cost mana but energy. She relies heavily on mobility.
- Passive Ability: When Ambessa makes an attack or movement while using an ability, she dashes a short distance after using the ability. After using an ability, she gains bonus range, damage, attack speed, and she regains energy.
- Q Ability: In a sickle shape, she deals damage with her blades. If she hits an opponent, she can reactivate the ability to deal damage in a column-like area with the blades.
- W Ability: Ambessa receives a shield and jumps a small distance forward. Upon landing, she deals damage. If she blocks damage during the jump that does not come from minions, she deals additional damage.
- E Ability: Ambessa uses her blades to deal damage in a small area around her. If her passive is activated, she deals damage around her again after the dash.
- R Ability: Ambessa charges at an opponent with a skill shot over a long distance. This opponent is knocked up and can do nothing during it. After being knocked up, the opponent is stunned and takes damage.
As seen with her abilities, Ambessa primarily relies on mobility and damage from her abilities. She is reminiscent of Renekton.
She is likely to appear again in Arcane Season 2:
A Nightmare for ADCs
How strong will Ambessa be? Since it is still unclear how much damage she deals, it is difficult to assess, but it can be said that her mobility will make her quite powerful. With her dashes, she can roam quickly, chase opponents, and trade well in lane.
Especially ADCs will have fun with Ambessa since they are usually quite immobile and Ambessa is perfectly suited to hunt them. She will likely go in a similar direction as Renekton or K’Sante.
In a reddit thread with almost 7,000 upvotes, it is noted that players are not particularly thrilled about her mobility. The creator of the thread states that after 14 years of LoL, the end of Mobility Creep
has come. He means the development that newer champions are significantly more mobile than older champions, creating an imbalance. The community feels similarly and jokes:
- III-Preparation6512:
They could still release a character like Hwei, who has a dash for every ability + every secondary ability. It can always go higher.
- BlobChain:
I thought this post was exaggerated – then I read what Ambessa does.
- Free-Birds:
You are wrong. Her Q can trigger two dashes. It’s not just one dash per ability, there are multiple dashes, you silly goose.
When will Ambessa Medarda be released? Ambessa Medarda will be released with Patch 14.22 on November 6, 2024. The first chapter of Arcane Season 2 will also be released that week. In conjunction with that, in-game events will take place in various Riot games.
