Season 13 of League of Legends has launched today with Patch 13.1. We show you which champions are currently best suited to successfully climb the rankings.
Patch 13.1 went live today, January 11, 2023, in League of Legends. This also marked the start of the new Ranked Season 13. The patch brought several balance changes for various champions and items.
To help you progress especially well at the start of the ranking climb, we have selected the best champions for each role. We base our choices on the champion tier list from mobalytics.gg.
We have limited ourselves to choosing the 2 best champions that are best suited for each role and are also easy to learn so you can achieve success faster.

The best top laners in Season 13
- Olaf
- Camille
The best champions from the preseason, K’Sante, Aatrox, and Fiora, have all been weakened in the latest patch. This opens up space for champions that are not just pure tanks or anti-tanks. Both Olaf and Camille offer great potential to run away with the game with a slight advantage. Additionally, there is the nerf of Jak’Sho for non-tank champions.
The best junglers in Season 13
- Maokai
- Udyr
Both Maokai and Udyr are currently in a particularly good position. Fast jungle clears and effective ganks, coupled with natural “tankiness,” make them strong junglers for both veterans and newcomers.
The best mid laners in Season 13
- Kassadin
- Vex
Kassadin and Vex were already very strong picks for the mid lane in the preseason. The changes to the items “Rod of Ages” and “Seraph’s Embrace” come in handy for them. Both items provide them with even better scaling into the mid and late game and allow them to endure more. They also need that when fighting their opponents at close range.
The best bot laners in Season 13
- Kai’Sa
- Tristana
The nerf to Jak’Sho also benefits these two bot laners. With their mix of physical and magical damage, they regain an advantage they lost due to Jak’Sho. Both function very well with different supporters and have their own ways to reposition against enemies.
The best supporters in Season 13
- Nami
- Janna
Here we have two classic enchanter supports. The remaining roles are heavily dominated by champions in melee range. Nami and Janna have various ways to disrupt the opposing team through large area CC attacks or protect their damage dealers while allowing them to deal more damage.
