In the Alpha test, players of League of Legends (LoL) can test the new client before everyone else!
In November 2015, RiotGames announced the new LoL client already. Since then, many players from various regions have been waiting for the opportunity to test this new client. Back then, the developers made it clear that the client would be faulty because they are still actively working on the software during the Alpha phase and bugs are definitely to be expected. Nevertheless, many players want to see how the new interface looks in the LoL client and how the new features feel.
LoL Alpha Tester registrations now available
Never before has RiotGames introduced a product that is still so early in the development stage. As a tester, you should be prepared to find and report many bugs.
The new client will provide easier ways to play with friends. A visual update that is “Hextech inspired” is also on the way. Mainly, the new client aims to change the core technology, which should result in fewer bugs and higher reliability.
How can you help improve the LoL Alpha client?
As previously mentioned, the Alpha client will not be free of bugs and may also cause frustration at times. If you still want to become a tester, you should keep the following in mind:
- The Alpha client in LoL does not yet have all the important features and queues – once it goes into the Beta phase, it will support all these features and queues.
- Alpha testers will still have access to the “normal” client (and all its features) during the test – the client should only be launched separately.
- Both clients share the same data – you only need to download a new patch once and have it on both platforms.
- You can still play with your friends, as the Alpha client connects you to the same servers as the current client already does.
- Stability is particularly important – if a part of the client breaks the game, that part will be disabled until the problem is repaired (similar to champions).
During the Alpha phase, there will be new features that will be integrated into the client. These will be highlighted and should be prioritized for your testing.
