In the German League of Legends, Eintracht Spandau, the LoL team of the YouTuber HandofBlood, is something special. A new video now states that 23 million euros are missing from the club’s treasury. Some fans consider this very good news.
What kind of team is this?
- Eintracht Spandau is the passion project of Maximilian “HandofBlood” Knabe, one of the most successful German gaming influencers, who is now a variety gamer but has his roots in LoL.
- Eintracht Spandau is mainly known for a creative and humorous presence on social media. HandofBlood plays a fictionalized, “evil version” of himself: He takes on the persona of a megalomaniacal and egomaniacal club president, a mix of Vince McMahon, Uli Hoeneß, and a German average Joe.
- However, there seem to be problems in a new YouTube video. 23 million euros are missing, but the president is unreachable: He is chilling again in the Cayman Islands.
Satirical video says that the club is missing 23 million euros
This story is told in the video: The pros from Eintracht Spandau and “Caretaker Broeki” go about their daily lives when a bailiff barges in and seizes their computers.
While it is negotiated and emphasized that they have absurd amounts of money in a Swiss numbered account, the place is quickly cleared out. Even Broeki’s broom is seized.
As they desperately try to find out what “the president” has gambled all the money on – he himself won’t be able to drink away 23 million euros – Broeki finds the “document” that explains everything. But what he discovers is not revealed in the video.
HandofBlood could pull an Ibai, buy into the LEC
This is the speculation: On YouTube, some fans believe that the 23 million euros could roughly correspond to the sum that Eintracht Spandau needs to raise to buy a professional spot in the European LoL league LEC.
Because one cannot be promoted or relegated in the LEC: Anyone who wants to enter must purchase a spot from an existing team.
In 2021, Schalke sold its professional spot for 26.5 million € – thus, 23 million euros could be roughly the amount that a league spot costs.
HandofBlood would be following a well-known example: The Spanish Twitch streamer Ibai has also founded an e-sports team and bought into the LEC with KOI: They took over the league spot from Rogue.
If Eintracht Spandau intends to hint at playing against Caps and his guys from G2 next year, that would be a huge deal.
Currently, Germany is only represented in the league by SK Gaming. The “German top players” are active in France and disappointed in the LEC in 2023: They finished in last place in the league with a record of 1-8.
At the moment, Eintracht Spandau is aiming for qualification for the final of the German championship and thus entry into the European Cup.
