Rekkles is considered one of the greatest European talents in League of Legends. For 5 years, he participated in World Championships, always aiming to win them. After a disastrous 2021 season, he is now moving to the French LFL.
Where is Rekkles moving to? As the organization Karmine Corp has announced, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson (25 years old) is joining them for the next 2 years. The transfer fee is said to have been more than one million US dollars, and Rekkles is expected to receive one million dollars in salary over the two years.
Karmine Corp plays in the French LFL league. It is basically situated directly below the LEC, along with some other regional leagues. The winners of the various regions then compete in a special tournament for the title EU Masters. Karmine Corp most recently won this title.
By the way, the title is also about YouTuber HandOfBlood and his new team Eintracht Spandau.
How did Rekkles’ career unfold? Rekkles was for many years the great European talent in the bot lane and aimed to win the World Championship for a long time:
- He already played for the first teams in LoL in 2012. These were Playing Ducks and later the second team of Fnatic.
- After stints with Copenhagen Wolves and Alliance, he permanently joined Fnatic in 2015.
- With this team, he participated in the Worlds in 2015 and achieved a respectable 3rd/4th place.
- In the following years, Fnatic always qualified for the World Championship and even secured second place in 2018. However, they lost in the final to the Chinese team Invictus Gaming.
- In 2021, Rekkles moved to G2 Esports and formed something like a European super team to finally win the Worlds. But it went horribly wrong.
G2 Esports experiences a disastrous season, nearly parts ways with the whole team
What happened in 2021? G2 Esports was the dominant team in the European LEC in recent years. They were strong internationally but not strong enough. In 2019, they finished in 2nd place and in 2020, they only ranked 3rd/4th.
The bot lane role of the AD carry, executed by Perkz, was identified as the weak point. He was actually a “trained” mid laner, but switched to the bot lane to make room for his teammate Caps. This was enough to win in Europe but not for the Worlds.
Therefore, Rekkles was bought for the 2021 season. But his playstyle did not fit with the rest of the team.
- G2 Esports was always seen as a chaotic team. They took many risks and did things that no other team would expect.
- However, Rekkles is considered a calmer and more focused player. He prefers to farm a lot to dominate in the endgame rather than play aggressively early. This simply did not mesh.
G2 Esports won nothing in 2021. In the Spring Playoffs, they only placed 3rd, and in the Summer Playoffs, even 4th. As a result, they missed the qualification for the Worlds.

G2 Esports completely rebuilds itself in 2022: For the new season, G2 Esports is not only parting ways with Rekkles but also with top laner Martin “Wunder” Hansen, support Mihael “Mikyx” Mehl, and head coach Fabian „GrabbZ“ Lohmann.
The new bot laner is expected to be the Spaniard Victor “Flakked” Lirola. The supporter is likely to be the player Raphaël “Targamas” Crabbé.
2 other stars return to Europe
While the “super team” G2 Esports completely reestablishes itself, Vitality is said to be building a team of veterans who had switched from Europe to America in the meantime.
Players Perkz and Alphari are said to be joining Vitality. The team also includes the jungler Selfmade, who was strong with Fnatic for many years.
