For Philippine LoL players, the skin “Volcanic Wukong” is now significantly cheaper. The reason for this is a frightening event, as the Taal volcano is apparently about to erupt. The LoL developers want to highlight this with the skin.
What kind of skin is this? League of Legends has a wide range of skins for most of its 148 champions. This is also true for Wukong, the Monkey King. He is available as “Volcanic Wukong” in a red, fiery appearance. From now on and until January 31, 2020, Philippine players can get this skin for only 1 RP. Normally, it would cost 975 RP, which is approximately €7.50.
Most players should find 1 RP on their LoL account. So Riot Games isn’t aiming to make money – the amount is really insignificant.
Why is Riot Games doing this? At the beginning of 2020, the Taal Volcano in the Philippines showed activity. The volcano recently spewed ash up to 14 kilometers high, reports CNN.
Since January 12, authorities have already evacuated 25,000 people living in potential range of the volcano. However, some residents remain in their homes despite the possible eruption.
Riot wants to draw attention here and warn people. They started this initiative with the skin.
In social networks, the developers share a graphic on the subject. There they warn about the potential dangers associated with the volcano activity.
The people there should protect their skin as much as possible, wear breathing masks to protect their lungs, and secure themselves as well as possible.

What else is happening? As DoteSports reports, LoL players asked Riot Games if they would sell the Firefighter Tristana skin and donate the proceeds to combat the Australian bushfires.
Overwatch players wished for skins for Roadhog to help Australia. Blizzard regularly does such initiatives, to help with breast cancer awareness, for example.

The shooter Destiny 2 is also planning an initiative to help Australia in the fight against the fires.
