K’Sante is the new champion available to play in League of Legends starting November 3, 2022. For the first time, a champion will be released with a prestige skin on the live servers. The skin belongs to the “Empyrean” series, which will appear on the live servers with patch 12.21.
What is special about the skin? K’Sante will be added as a new champion to League of Legends. Right at release, Riot is giving him a prestige skin. This will mark the first time that 2 prestige skins will be available in the shop at the same time: K’Sante’s and Master Yi’s “Soul Blossom” skin.
The skin was created in collaboration with Lil Nas X and reflects his enthusiasm for the champion. In a roundtable, Lead Concept Artist Thomas Randy told us about the collaboration with the musician on the skin. It was noted that Riot drew inspiration from modern fashion for the “Prestige Empyrean” K’Sante.
After the rapper had already released the Worlds song, Riot also tried to incorporate Lil Nas X’s style into K’Sante’s prestige skin. As this is the first cooperation with an artist for a new skin, it was important to stay true to the essence of the character.

What other skins are available in the skin series? So far, new champions have rarely had many skins and some had to wait a long time. However, this patch brings many new skins. The Empyrean series introduces us to 8 champions who are getting a new skin.
Champions receiving a skin are:

- Empyrean Jhin
- Empyrean K’Sante → Prestige Empyrean K’Sante
- Empyrean Lux
- Empyrean Pyke
- Empyrean Vex
- Empyrean Zac
- Empyrean Zed
The Empyrean series consists of epic skins, for which you should pay 1,350 RP – with one exception: the Pyke skin will be legendary and cost 1,820 RP.
In the trailer, some players joked that it was a nice Pyke montage (via reddit). We have embedded the trailer for you here:
The Pyke skin is not only more expensive because it is the legendary skin of this series, but it also fits into the lore of the universe. In this world, Pyke seeks out and battles his alter egos. For this reason, he will also be portrayed as much stronger in the trailer than the other characters.
The skins are characterized by many neon colors and originate from a dark world. The champions invade the new universe and become part of the Empyrean. Their original universes are doomed, and they try to prevent the misfortune. In doing so, they travel through various universes to obtain the fire energy source.
What do others say about the new skins? Some may not like the new direction of the prestige skins because they still hold on to the white/gold versions of the prestige editions. However, there are also some other voices from the community:
- On the post from League of Legends, user “FNC TruVyper” (via Twitter) replies: “Alright, I don’t make the rules. So I’ll be buying the skin.”
- Reddit user “ElementaryMyDearWut” posts (via Reddit): “I think it’s great that they’ve moved away from the gold/white prestige skins. The butterfly motif and the purple go really well together. I love it.”
New Champion K’Sante is supposed to fill a gap
What defines the champion? K’Sante is meant to fill the gap that exists on the top lane. Jakob Crouch told us about the planning process. He always missed that one character who could fill the gap between a tank and a duelist.
The main inspiration for this was a scene from the series “Naruto” where Rock Lee fights Gaara. After trying everything, Lee drops his weights and severely beats Gaara. This feeling should also be conveyed by K’Sante.

As an interface between tank and duelist, the champion should have the chance to decide at any time whether to fight for his team or to engage in an ultimate showdown with an opponent.
Fights are also reflected in K’Sante’s story. He had to defend the city of Nazumah against monsters day by day. “He is just a man. A man who has fought his entire life to become the best monster hunter from Nazumah. And he has become the embodiment of human perfection,” says Justin “Earp” Albers from Riot Games.
