Schalke 04 is not performing as planned in League of Legends. A restructuring of the team is now expected to help.
Just 3 months ago, it was announced that Schalke 04 had acquired a spot in the LCS Tournament of LoL and participates in the tournament with its own team. Meanwhile, there are already talks of a restructuring within the “League of Legends” team. The relegation match, which was about remaining in the LCS, was lost by the team and now they have to play in the Challenger Series, which is a “league” below the LCS. They will have another chance to be promoted back to the LCS in Spring 2017.
The eSports manager has become unpopular with fans
Jacob “Maelk” Toft-Andersen, the eSports manager of the team, received a lot of criticism from fans over the weekend. During the crucial match, which was about remaining in the LCS, the manager was not present with his team in Berlin, but watched the game via stream from Seattle. The reason for this was that he was working as an analyst at the “Dota 2” tournament “The International 6” and was therefore unavailable.
In the video, you can see the highlights from the crucial 4th match between Team Misfits and Schalke 04:
Schalke’s start in the LCS was promising, beginning with a victory against the team Unicorns of Love. In the first round, Schalke stayed at the top of the leaderboard for a long time. However, in the second round, the results declined, and they even lost clearly against Team ROCCAT, which at that time was in last place on the leaderboard. A restructuring of the team is expected to bring more success in the future. The club has already parted ways with team manager Jacob Maelk Toft-Andersen.
Next year, Schalke’s “League of Legends” team will have the chance to be promoted to the LCS.
