Riot Games has announced that they will no longer collaborate with a Brazilian caster of the League of Legends. The LoL caster Gabriel “MiT” Souza (29) allegedly pressured a woman into oral sex during a Tinder date 6 or 7 years ago.
Who is it about? The 29-year-old Gabriel “MiT” Souza was a LoL player in Brazil for many years, later becoming a coach and eventually a caster. He started his career as a support player in the early days of LoL, then became a manager and coach in Brazil for teams like Flamengo Esports and paiN Gaming.
In 2020, Riot Games hired him as a caster for the Brazilian Challenger series of League of Legends.
This is what Riot Games says now: They state in a statement to a Brazilian site that they will publish the list of casters in the coming days, but Souza is not one of the talents they have signed for 2021. Thus, they have parted ways with the caster.
Pressured into Oral Sex in the Car
These are the allegations: Previously, a tattoo artist raised allegations against Souza on Twitter. She had met Souza on Tinder 6 or 7 years ago and arranged a meeting. She says these incidents have haunted her for years, they come back no matter how hard she tries to forget them. It is one of the hardest things she has ever done to write about the events from back then.
She describes that she and Souza were in a car together at a meeting and were kissing. Souza then suddenly pulled his penis out of his pants and pushed her head down to perform oral sex. She had made it clear beforehand that she did not want that. He knew that too.
Later, he told people the story and also said that she did not want that. However, he did not say that he forced her to do it.
After the tattoo artist wrote about her experience with Souza, a cosplayer came forward and said she had a similar experience with the caster. It is very difficult for victims to speak about such allegations.
Even the ex-girlfriend of the caster spoke up on Twitter and painted a similar picture of her former boyfriend.
This is what Souza himself says: The caster addresses the incident on Twitter himself (via twitter) and says: Years ago he did not possess the maturity he has today to properly address such important matters. It hurts him now that someone felt hurt for so long and that he did not realize how deeply he hurt someone.
Pain and memories belong to everyone who suffered them, and it is not up to him to lessen them or treat them as everyday experiences.
He has developed as a person over the past few years and understands that there is no justification for his behavior. He never intended to hurt anyone. He deeply regrets any wounds he has caused in his 29 years of life.
Riot Games and players of League of Legends have repeatedly faced allegations of inappropriate behavior towards women in recent years. The case of the Twitch streamer Hashinshin caused a lot of uproar, as he allegedly “groomed” girls. However, he defends himself against the allegations and considers them to be intrigues:
