Patch 14.4 of League of Legends is set to be released this week. With this patch, Riot Games is nerfing the rune Lethal Tempo
, which could particularly impact two brothers.
Patch 14.4 is just around the corner and will be available on the live servers of League of Legends on Thursday, February 22nd. With the latest patch, Riot Games has made changes to the Lethal Tempo
rune, which could affect two popular champions – the two brothers Yone and Yasuo. The community is excited about this change.
What exactly is being nerfed? The rune Lethal Tempo gives you increased attack speed for 6 seconds (54-81% melee champions) or (21-48% ranged champions) when you attack an enemy champion with auto-attacks. This effect can be stacked up to 6 times. With maximum stacks, your attack speed can exceed 2.5, and you additionally gain 50 attack range.
- Lethal Tempo Nerf: Melee attack speed per stack reduced – from 9-13.5% (based on level) to 5-16% (based on level)
The nerf only affects melee champions. Both Yasuo and Yone benefit from the extra attack speed because the cooldown of their Q ability scales with attack speed. The nerf is likely to impact Yone and Yasuo in the early game, but they may scale even stronger in the late game.
In the early game, however, the nerf could result in them dominating less on the lane. At the start, they will receive less attack speed per stack due to the nerf, but they will gain more at higher levels than before the new patch.

nerf
What does the community say about it? On Reddit, the player Sunshado shared his perspective on the Lethal Tempo
nerf. Sunshado emphasizes that champions like Yone and Yasuo are highly dependent on this rune, especially in the early game. The reduction in attack speed per stack will make the early game more balanced.
I believe people do not realize how much Yone and Yasuo rely on this rune.
Sunshado thinks Yasuo and Yone should have a worse early game because they scale and would be strong enough later on. The change to the rune is definitely a good one. Lethal Tempo previously erased this weakness in the early game far too much.
Under the post, numerous comments have emerged. A large part is excited about the nerf of Lethal Tempo. We have summarized a few comments for you:
- drop_of_faith agrees with Sunshado:
I agree. LT distorts the early game much more than any rune should.
- Raigheb writes:
As a Nocturne main, I must say Lethal Tempo was overpowered. I will still take the rune, but no longer feel like I could beat everyone alone at level 4.
- DarioIvan writes:
Finally, we can play a champion instead of a rune.
- Jhininstalock writes:
[…] Didn’t we all love being beaten by these champions in the early levels just because they received ridiculous amounts of stats for free? […]
Patch 14.4 also includes changes to support items and buffs and nerfs for some champions, including K’Sante, Lulu, and Aurelion Sol.
The nerfs for Aurelion Sol seem well-timed. Previously, Riot Games apologized for the strong buff he received: LoL: Riot apologizes for the overly strong buff of a mid laner – ‘We made him way too good’
