Riot introduces the new champions Rakan and Xayah, who will take on the roles of Support and ADC in League of Legends.
With the words “She fights for the cause. He fights for her.” the developers have already revealed a small part of the new duo in League of Legends yesterday. Now the abilities of the two new champions have been introduced.
Champion Introduction: Rakan
Rakan bears the title “The Fan Favorite” and assumes the Support role in this special team. For this, he has abilities available that can shield or heal allies.
Passive: Fluffed Up
- From time to time, Rakan’s cape generates a shield (even during combat). The cooldown of Fluffed Up is reduced when he attacks enemy champions.
Q – Phoenix Feather
- Rakan throws a Feather in the target direction. If this feather hits an enemy champion or an epic monster, it deals damage and charges Rakan’s cape with magic. After a short time, a Healing Spell is triggered in Rakan’s vicinity. He can also trigger this spell immediately when he touches a teammate.
W – Impressive Entrance
- Rakan jumps to the target point and, after a short time, launches nearby enemies into the air.
E – Battle Dancer
- This ability is applied to allies and protects them from damage. During this, Rakan sprints to the target. After using Battle Dancer, he has a few seconds to use the ability again. It can also work twice on the same target.
- If the target is Xayah, Battle Dancer has a higher range.
R – Step Your Way Free!
- Rakan begins to sprint and charges his cape. While the ability is active, he charms all enemies he touches and deals damage to them (only 1x per champion). The first champion grants him a movement speed boost.
B – Recall
- If Xayah or Rakan initiate a recall, the other can join this recall. Together they teleport back to base.

Champion Introduction: Xayah
Xayah takes on the role of AD Carry in the team. For this, she has various abilities that harmonize with the Feather theme of the duo.
Passive – Razor-Sharp Feathers
- After using an ability, Xayah’s normal attacks pierce all enemies in their path. These attacks deal reduced damage to all targets after the first. Where they land, they leave a Feather that remains on the map for a moderate time.
Q – Twin Feathers
- In this ability, Xayah throws two daggers in one direction, dealing damage to all hit enemies. Where the daggers land, they leave a Feather.
W – Featherstorm
- A summoned storm of feather blades increases the strength and speed of Xayah’s next normal attacks. If she attacks an enemy champion while Featherstorm is active, she receives a movement speed boost for a short time.
- If Rakan is nearby while Xayah casts Featherstorm, he also receives the effect of this ability.
E – Caller of Blades
- With this ability, Xayah calls all Feathers to her. On their way back to her, they deal damage to all enemies they hit. If a target is hit by multiple Feathers, it is briefly rooted.
R – Raging Feathers
- Upon triggering the ability, Xayah jumps into the air and can briefly become untargetable. After a short delay, knives rain down in a cone-shaped area in front of her. Each of these knives deals damage to hit enemies and leaves a Feather.
- While she is in the air, Xayah can move.
If Xayah or Rakan initiate a recall, the other can join this recall. Together, they teleport back to base.
