In League of Legends there has been a confrontation between the Belgian LoL professional Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer and a Spanish caster in recent days. After tensions flared, Riot Games has now decided to address the incident with a warning.
What was the situation? Nisqy is the mid-laner for the Spanish team MAD Lions, the European champions.
Currently, he is competing in the MSI tournament with his team, and as is common for European teams, they are experiencing significant defeats against the top teams from Korea.
When they played against T1, Faker’s team, they suffered a crushing defeat with a score of 0-3. One match was lost in 17 minutes – that is an embarrassment.
Belgian criticized for being too cheerful after defeat
How the argument started: After the match, a Spanish caster posted a picture on Twitter, comparing two professionals who had lost for MAD Lions:
- The Spanish jungler Elyolya looks utterly shattered as he walks away
- The Belgian Nisqy, however, seems to be smiling in his picture
The caster wrote: That is the difference between a winner and a loser. These pictures also reflect the performance level of both in the game.
In summary: The noble Spaniard takes the defeat seriously and suffers, while the Belgian laughs it off.
“Is your mother a whore?”
How the argument escalated: Nisqy then replied in a tweet: “Is your mother a whore?” but quickly deleted the tweet. He said he didn’t want to create more problems.
How is this being discussed? The experts were largely on Nisqy’s side and found the criticism that he didn’t look “sad enough” to be wrong – also Nisqy’s performance wasn’t as bad as portrayed.
A professional said: Twitter is full of people with a lot of opinions and little knowledge. People criticize teams without knowing how they actually play and function.
Riot Games issues a warning
This is Riot Games’ decision now: As a professional, Nisqy must adhere to Riot Games’ rules. Therefore, the outburst resulted in an investigation and decision.
But apparently, Riot Games also understands that Nisqy was provoked on Twitter. Therefore, he is only receiving a warning for “behavior that is not appropriate for a member of the LEC.”
