The Swede Martin “Rekkles” Larsson is considered one of the best AD carries in League of Legends. In a new livestream, he shared tips for quickly climbing the ranks. He also revealed which champions are currently the best for the bot lane.
Who is speaking?
- Rekkles played for Fnatic for five years and achieved a second-place finish at the World Championship in 2018. He is still regarded as one of the best AD carries in the world.
- In 2020, he switched to G2 Esports and initially wanted to be part of a super team. However, he experienced a low point in his career. The team failed to qualify for the World Championship in 2021.
- At the end of 2021, he dropped down to a lower league. He now plays for the French team Karmine Corp and won the EU Masters with them in Spring 2022.
In recent weeks, Rekkles has been streaming more frequently and announced that he wants to climb the ranks significantly by the end of Season 12. Accordingly, he gave three important tips to his viewers.
Focus on only two champions
What is his first tip? According to Rekkles, the easiest way to climb the ranks is to focus on one or two champions. One should not try to master as many champions as possible or even fulfill multiple roles.
The focus on a single champion is ideal, but you also have to expect that the opponent plays or bans this champion. Therefore, you must master two champions.
Which champions does Rekkles recommend? In the bot lane, he sees primarily two champions as very strong: Jhin and Sivir.
- Jhin is ideal for SoloQ, according to Rekkles, because he is strong in almost every matchup and can be played with almost any supporter. Only with a Lulu would he not play Jhin.
- Sivir, on the other hand, is strong in the lane. While it is difficult to kill your opponent, you also do not die and constantly push towards the tower.
Good alternatives would also be Miss Fortune and Tristana. All four champions are among those that Rekkles enjoys playing competitively in tournaments.

Don’t die and don’t lose the lane
What other tips does Rekkles have? In general, the professional recommends choosing a champion that is strong in the laning phase and not to focus too much on the endgame. Because: “Many SoloQ games are decided early on. For this, you need a champion that dominates the lane.”
In line with this, the professional emphasizes that you should not die on your lane. That is a priority.
In competitive matches with five fixed players, the situation is different. Here, lane dominance and constant minion push are not always necessary, but the entire team combo plays a more important role.
However, pushing in SoloQ and giving your support more room would already decide many games.
