The Croatian Luka “Perkz” Perkovic is considered one of the best players in League of Legends in Europe. His transfer from G2 Esports to Cloud 9 was the biggest transfer in Europe of the LoL offseason. Perkz spent the winter break back home in Croatia, streaming LoL on Twitch. An earthquake caught him off guard. Even such a tough pro can’t handle that.
This is how Perkz experienced the earthquake: For Perkz, it was just an ordinary Twitch stream shortly after Christmas 2020. He was playing as Sylas in the mid lane, as usual, and had just returned with level 7 from a trip to farm the creep wave when he noticed the earthquake.
At first, it seemed to bother Perkz very little that the ground was shaking. He was shaking quite a bit in his chair, but he was still able to land his skills and only half-pulled his headset off his head. But then he said “Holy Shit”.
Pretty quickly, it got to the point where it became too shaky for him. He called for his mother and stood up from his gaming chair to check if anything had happened.
Shortly afterward, he was back in the game and had missed some XP. However, it was visibly difficult for him to focus on LoL again after the earthquake. He blinked, grinned, and said: “That was crazy, I tell you. I think I have to stop streaming.”
He then apologized in the chat to his team, saying he just couldn’t concentrate anymore after the earthquake and logged off. In doing so, he also dropped his headset.
What kind of earthquake was that? Croatia was shaken by a series of earthquakes in the days after Christmas. On December 29, Perkz experienced an earthquake measuring 6.4. It occurred about 27.5 kilometers south of the capital Zagreb.
In the days that followed, 4 more earthquakes followed with magnitudes ranging from 3.7 to 4.8 on the Richter scale.
Perkz: The defining figure in European LoL in recent years

After 5 years at the top of Europe with G2 Esports, Perkz has now decided to transfer to North America with Cloud 9. Allegedly, Perkz secured a transfer fee in the range of $5 million.
In 2021, Rekkles will replace him at G2 Esports: The Swedish bot laner is considered, like Perkz, an absolute superstar in European League of Legends.
