The jungle (engl: “Jungle”) is considered in League of Legends the least popular position overall. However, to prevent players from being put off, Riot wants to completely revamp the position now. Maybe. Because the information was promptly deleted.
What kind of position is this? As a jungler, you have several tasks in League of Legends and use special mechanics to your advantage:
- You mainly gain experience and gold from monsters in the jungle.
- Your main task is to watch the paths between the lanes and “gank,” enabling kills for your teammates.
- Additionally, you manage important buffs like the dragon, the Rift Herald, or Baron Nashor.
However, the role is extremely unpopular and thankless. Because basically, it’s said: the jungler is to blame if something doesn’t work. Because in reality, you are quite important for the team, but at the same time, you have a really tough job. Professionals even advise against playing jungler.
To take away some of the bad reputation from the jungler position, it seems Riot is considering some major overhauls. However, the post apparently came too early and disappeared from the website.

The jungle is allegedly set to receive new items and even pets
This was allegedly in the post: According to PCGamesN, the current jungler items should be exchanged for new ones. Additionally, there should be assistance for paths that run through the jungle – so you don’t have to rely on websites or memorize everything.
However, the perhaps biggest change is that companions (“pets”) should come in to support you while jungling. Such a feature would be especially helpful for AP junglers like Lillia, who traditionally have bigger problems at the beginning of the game when they deal little damage.
However, Riot is allegedly planning with the rework to simplify the entry as a jungler and to somewhat close the large gap between strong and weak players in this position. According to PCGamesN, it was mentioned in the post:
“When the clear optimization is no longer the big entry hurdle for junglers, many more champions can be played there. The meta is less set in stone. The jungle itself does not tell you that you are bad at the game just because you selected Warwick and are fighting the raptors. Skill should be rewarded throughout the entire roster, not just for the few chosen ones who can currently efficiently clean the jungle.”
We can no longer verify the information, as the post has since been deleted. It is said to have appeared on Garena, the news blog of League of Legends in Southeast Asia.
When is the rework supposed to be released? According to information, the changes are set for Preseason 2023. However, this is still a few months away and is expected to start around November 2022. Whether and how the changes will come, you will probably still know until then.
