Players talk about their bad
champion builds in League of Legends and explain why they keep reverting to them. MeinMMO reveals what it’s all about.
In League of Legends, the meta often has the final say regarding which champions and builds are considered effective and competitive. However, some players have the courage to go against the grain and develop and defend unconventional champion builds. They present some creations that they keep playing.
Currently, the LoL Worlds 2023 are in full swing, here you can see the anthem:
Players rely on creative builds
Viego, the mysterious champion at the center of the action, is an example of how players deviate from the predetermined path. Riot Games may have planned him with items like Trinity Force
and Kraken Slayer
, but a player named Miudom finds that inappropriate.
Instead, he swears by Divine Sunderer
and Blade of the Ruined King
in his Viego build, as Miudom shares on Reddit. This build has undergone some changes in the past, but remains the better choice for him. And not to forget, Blade of the Ruined King
is literally his blade.
Other players also join the discussion and share their builds:
Sonic Build: Another interesting example is the Sonic the Hedgehog Build
, where champions like Rammus, Hecarim, and Quinn aim for maximum movement speed. This is accomplished, for example, by using the Predator Rune
and building items like Youmuu’s Ghostblade
and Chemtank
. It is indeed a widespread tactic; many players also play Singed in a similar Speed
style.
The player FakeAlan writes: I don’t care how much damage I deal, I go in and I go in fast. Somehow that will be enough to win the fight, regardless of team comps.
AP Support with Kills: DazedandConfusedTuna loves AP Nami as a support. Normally, Nami is regarded as a supporter who helps her team. But in this case, it’s about something completely different.
The idea behind the full AP Nami build is to gain advantages early game and then spread devastation. The user emphasizes: […] You haven’t lived until you’ve achieved 20 kills as Nami support.
Tank Shaco to annoy: The player Robo-Doge relies on Tank Shaco, stating: […]I’m happy to be an annoying jerk, but I don’t like to kill them quickly.
Hybrid Gnar: The player silvermoonbeats enjoys Hybrid Gnar: […] People never expect to deal much damage as Mini Gnar when you build one or two AS items [Attack Speed], and then they also don’t realize how robust Mega Gnar is because they think your build focuses on optimizing Mini.
Nautilus Top: itzxFabi prefers Full Tank
-Nautilus on the top lane and not as support; he particularly emphasizes items like Heartsteel
and Demonic Embrace
, explaining: You deal insane damage, have good wave clear, are tankier than a support Nautilus ever will be, and are still the same CC machine. The only real challenge is the lane until level 6 and against Olaf; most other matchups are quite survivable until you scale.
But what drives these players? One player sums it up: For me, it just feels right
. It’s about prioritizing the feeling, gameplay, and identification with the champion over the numbers.
Which builds do you keep reverting to? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
