In League of Legends, the next champion is already on the horizon: Sett. He impresses with a simpler design than his predecessors and is therefore eagerly awaited by many.
What makes Sett special? The new champion Sett was, according to the lore, a fighter in Ionian battle arenas, which is also reflected in his skills. While the champion Aphelios came with multiple weapon kits, Sett is much simpler.
His skills focus on damage and CC. Complex mechanics like invisibility, quick reloads, or dodging rolls are practically non-existent.
And this excites many players. User wowincredible9 created a reddit thread titled: “I am more excited about Sett than any other champion in my role in 2019.” Many players agreed with him:
- Serjayr: “It has been a long time since I was this excited about a champion. I play on the top lane, and I will play Sett on the PBE until he is finally released.”
- Chooseusername3331: “Yes, it feels very satisfying to play him, and he doesn’t seem too complicated.”
- Eljako98: “I am happy that they are finally releasing a viable top laner who is not an assassin with multiple dashes.”
When will Sett be released? There is no official release date for the new champion yet. He is already on the PBE. Therefore, it is possible that he may appear with tomorrow’s patch, which is supposed to prepare for the start of the new Season 10.
In a new tweet from Lead Gameplay Designer Mark Yetter about the overview of Patch 10.1, however, he does not appear. So it is also possible that Sett will only be released two weeks later, with the patch on January 22.
An easy but effective fighter
What can Sett do? Sett is a fighter and meant for the top lane. His skills are:
- Boisterous (Passive): Sett’s normal attacks alternate between the left and right fist. The right fist deals additional damage. Additionally, Sett’s health regeneration increases by 0.25 for every 5% missing health.
- On my own [Q]: Sett gains 30% movement speed for 1.5 seconds and his next two attacks deal additional damage.
- Swinger (W): Passive: Sett stores damage as Boisterous. Active: Sett charges up for a massive strike, dealing damage to enemies +25% of the stored Boisterous as absolute damage.
- On the Twelfth (E): Sett throws enemies on both sides of him against each other, dealing damage. If there is at least 1 enemy on each side, they are stunned for 1 second.
- The K.O. criterion (R): Sett grabs an enemy, pulls him forward, and slams him to the ground. Enemies in the area take damage and are slowed by 99% for 1.5 seconds.

No, Sett is not Draven’s son
Where does Sett come from? Sett comes from humble beginnings in Ionia, where his father was a very famous brawler. One day his father disappeared, and Sett found out that he had bought himself out of his contract and was now fighting successfully elsewhere in the world.
Sett then became angry and began fighting in the arenas himself, intending to confront and defeat his father one day.
One day, however, Sett decided to enter the big business and took over the management of the arenas in Ionia. He is now counted among the most famous underworld bosses. However, he is still a strong fighter.
Who is Sett’s father? After the release of the short story about Sett, speculations began on reddit about who his father might be. Many pointed to Draven, the well-known axe thrower. But he was only 2 years old at the time of Sett’s birth.
Who Sett’s actual father is remains unknown. But it is possible that we may encounter him in the future.
The next champ will be a jungler
What’s next after Sett? From a roadmap in October, we know that after Senna, Aphelios, and now Sett, another champion is planned. This one is supposed to be a jungler. However, there are no exact details yet.
If we consider these 4 champions, a mid-laner would follow after the jungler. Additionally, reworks of Fiddlesticks and Volibear are planned.
