In the subreddit for League of Legends, the user crookedjoker posted a video in which he almost achieved a pentakill. However, in the end, it was the opponents who thwarted his plans.
What happened? The player was on the opposing jungle with the new champion Viego. There, he encountered enemy players one by one, whom he was able to eliminate solo.
- First, he faced Vi and Aatrox, who came into the fight with slightly fewer health points and without the spell “Flash” after an earlier duel.
- Next, the opposing AD carry Lucian came into sight. He was not actually alone, but died so quickly that his supporter Taric couldn’t help him.
- Taric himself then died to Lucian’s abilities, which crookedjoker had absorbed with Viego.
- Then came the final 1v1 between Viego and Katarina.
Yet this kill was not meant for the player. Because the opposing team, which was already at a significant disadvantage before the fight with Viego, surrendered.
With the successful surrender vote, the game ended, and crookedjoker was denied his pentakill.

How do the reactions look? The video received over 620 upvotes and was temporarily in the top 5 of the subreddit. In the comments, viewers express their sympathy for the player:
- Sk8thunder writes: “I expected a strange Viego bug where the final kill goes to one of the enemies, but this is just much worse.”
- LogicalOcelot expects that the player will go crazy: “You must really be going crazy, Bro.”
- The user obese-to claims to fully understand the pain: “The same thing happened to me last week on Urgot during my promos. The pain of seeing the surrender vote go through in chat and knowing it’s too late to do anything.”
How does the player himself react? For crookedjoker, it would have been his first pentakill with Viego. But it didn’t take long. Just one day later, he posted another video where he achieved the pentakill.
This time, however, he received a lot of help from his teammates.
Why is a pentakill so special? A pentakill is the best achievement one can reach in LoL. It means that all 5 enemies were eliminated in a very short period of time. The call that is heard in the game is the goal of many players.
It’s frustrating when one is denied this special moment. This usually happens because another teammate gets one of the kills. Here, the pentakill was prevented by a surrender, which is rather rare.
