In the US League of Legends, the Dane Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen (24) is considered the best bot laner in the LCS: But his new coach at Cloud9 had other plans. He sorted the veteran out before the season started. There was not even a place for him in the academy team. But at the start of the season, everything turned out differently.
This was Zven’s situation:
- The Dane Zven has been playing in the USA since 2017, after poor years at TSM he was the big star of Cloud9 and replaced the club legend Sneaky. But in 2021 there was a lot of trouble at Cloud9, allegedly Zven got so angry about a mistake from his jungler that he was demoted to the academy team for a few games.
- For 2022, Cloud9 planned a fresh start: They brought in an innovative coach who is all about Korea. His idea was to establish a strong second team to allow better training. Zven was supposed to play no role in the new team, only to come in for practice times.
- Actually, they wanted to replace the 24-year-old Dane with an 18-year-old Korean. Due to the foreigner rule in the LCS, there was actually no space left for Zven in the roster of the team and the academy team. But the Korean “Berserker” did not receive a visa at the start of the league, so suddenly the old Dane had to step in.
Zven achieves 6th penta-kill of his US career – Sets new record
Zven was that good: The ADC achieved a penta-kill in the match against FlyQuest. This is called in LoL when a player eliminates all 5 enemy players in relatively quick succession.
Zven’s penta-kill was his 6th penta-kill in the LCS, setting a new record.
A “penta-kill” is the highest achievement a player can attain in LoL. In professional games, penta-kills are quite rare, as usually some teammate intervenes.
Here in the clip you can see clearly how the legendary Faker is just about to achieve a penta-kill, which is ruined by a teammate:
How did Zven achieve the penta-kill? Zven accomplished the remarkable feat with the hero Ziggs in a team fight at the edge of the enemy base. It was a fierce battle, where Zven ended up shooting the last opponent in the back as he fled.
“Let him have it! Let him have it!”
This is what Zven says: In an interview with Inven, Zven says: After he caught 3 opponents, he briefly thought about the penta-kill, but the enemy’s ADC was still alive, so first it was about catching him and ensuring the match win.
When the enemy’s ADC, Aphelios, used the Stopwatch, Zven saw his opportunity for the penta, so he shouted in voice chat: “Let him have it! Let him have it!”, because suddenly the penta-kill was in reach.
However, Zven says he doesn’t believe that his teammates really left Aphelios for him; it just happened that way.

What does he say about his new role? Cloud9 relies on a “10-man” roster in 2022, and Zven knows he is currently not part of the starting lineup. However, he assures that he trusts this project and believes it can work. The best players will be fielded, regardless of role and nationality.
Zven says he knows he is only playing because the circumstances require it and so many foreign players are missing. However, he believes he still has what it takes and can play at the level of the LCS.
The penta-kill definitely seems to prove that.
The new coach of Cloud9, LS, already has a hot history in League of Legends:
