Riot Games is always trying to work with the monetary adjustments with League of Legends. New RP prices, Battle Passes, and more have been introduced in recent years. They also occasionally tweak the skins. A leak now suggests a Gacha system, and players are not pleased.
What do the leaks say? In the next patch, new Cosmic skins will come to League of Legends. The champion Jhin, who already has such a skin, is set to get a new version of his skin as part of the patch. However, you cannot regularly buy the “Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin”.
You can obtain the skin according to Twitter user Julex_Gameplays only if you draw it from a Cosmic 2023 Capsule. A classic Gacha system that hasn’t been seen in LoL before. In TFT, however, Riot has already introduced this system for some time. The Mythic skins also have a similar random system through Mythic Shards, which can be targeted through Battle Passes.

Can the skin be guaranteed? Riot has built in a guarantee, as after 30 opened capsules, you will receive the skin for sure. You will need 22,500 essences, which would cost you a mere €200. Currently, this system is only available on the PBE and not on the live server.
How is the community reacting to it? Under a post on Reddit by “williamis3”, players are discussing the new system and oscillating between frustration and cynicism.

Riot has already used Gacha in other games. It’s just that LoL is old and it’s difficult to introduce changes that are worse for the players, and LoL has a loud and active community.

Meanwhile, China has these bonus chromas as part of their disgusting Gacha model, which is even worse than this new loot milestone rubbish.
In China, the system seems to exist in a much worse state already. Many users are not surprised that Riot is acting this way, especially considering that they have a similar system in Legends of Runterra and TFT.
