Briar, the latest champion in League of Legends, has hit the live servers. However, her debut win rate is already competing with the worst of all time. MeinMMO reveals what’s behind it.
On September 13, the new champion Briar entered the Rift. But already, she is struggling with a low win rate, which is not that unusual for a launch. However, she is almost breaking a record, drawing the attention of many players with her poor win rate.
Here you can watch an animated video about the new jungler Briar:
Briar starts with nearly the worst win rate of all time
What do the statistics say? The current data from u.gg illustrates that Briar currently has the lowest win rate in all ranks – her win rate is only 33.01% (as of 14.09.23). Furthermore, her pick rate is also low, possibly due to frequent bans. Naafiri follows her with a win rate of 42.79%.
With this win rate, she is almost at the top of the champions with the lowest win rates. According to riftfeed.gg, Syndra leads with the worst win rate on her debut. Within the first weeks on the live servers, she only achieved a win rate of 27%, which was mainly due to bugs.
What are the reactions like? On Reddit, there’s already an extensive thread about the new jungler. However, players’ reactions are rather annoyed:
- Fitzky45 predicts:
They will overbuff her with a hotfix now and then wait 3 months before nerfing Briar.
- norwegiansmurf is angry at Riot:
You released a champion with a win rate of 30%. You clearly haven’t done your job very well, or at all.
- sorayayy highlights:
Normally, I can blindly pick a new champion because it’s not hard for a beginner to control them, but Briar is definitely an exception to the rule.
Why is her win rate so poor? Many players may not yet fully understand how to play Briar effectively. It takes time and practice to grapple with her abilities and better understand her kit. Moreover, she has only been available on live servers since yesterday.
Therefore, these statistics are still in their infancy. There isn’t enough data yet to assess her true strength. Additionally, Briar requires smart decisions. While her blood rage mode may be powerful, when her E ability is on cooldown, it can easily happen that she accidentally runs into enemy towers or opponents – and thus dies.
For this reason, the right timing for these abilities is extremely important. Many players are already struggling with Briar because she has tricky abilities that pose a challenge, especially for beginners.
Briar will need time to establish herself in the meta. Her kit may not be particularly complicated, but it requires a good understanding of the game. If her low win rate and limited impact on the game persist, it is likely that players will expect adjustments for Briar in the future.
Hopefully, she won’t make it to the least popular champions: These are currently the 10 least popular LoL champions
