The release of the new game mode rotation in League of Legends (LoL) is not far away – now there is news.
In the official League of Legends forum, RiotL4T3NCY wrote in a thread more detailed information about the new queue and what to expect. Earlier this month, developer RiotGames announced that they want to provide more variety in the game and therefore want to implement a rotation of popular game modes during the weekends.
When will the queue be activated in LoL and how often will game modes repeat?
The goal is to activate the queue for the game mode rotation every weekend from Friday afternoon until early Monday morning. The time will be based on the respective region. There will be 3 afternoons where players can enjoy the game mode rotation. If the mode is very popular, this period can still be extended.
How often game modes will repeat depends on how many of them run stably. Players will likely notice repetitions after one and a half to two months. While this may sound quite “frequent”, RiotGames believes that players prefer this method over events occurring only once every 12 months.
Do Champion Mastery Points and loot work in the game mode rotation?
As currently in the Summoner’s Rift, there are also 2 types of earning loot in the new queue:
- Earning an S-rank
- A team member earns an S-rank
Additionally, all loot rules that apply in the Summoner’s Rift are also active. Therefore, players still need a chest charge and can only receive 1 per champion, etc. You can find the exact requirements for Hextech Crafting here.
However, Champion Mastery Points have been adjusted so that players must perform well in the respective game mode. The point allocation differs significantly from the current principle in the Summoner’s Rift. However, they will keep an eye on the point system and make adjustments if necessary.
What game modes will be available in the new queue in LoL?
The game mode “Poro King” is currently being played on the beta servers and serves to test the Champion Mastery Points algorithm. The Shurima game mode is also expected to come to the test servers this week to check stability. Other game modes will be mentioned as we get closer to the release of the new queue.
