On the night of March 23 to March 24, panic broke out in the MMO community. According to a leaker, the LoL-MMORPG has been canceled, but the situation is not that clear.
What does the leaker claim? According to a leak from Twitter leaker @BigBadBear_, RIOT is said to be completely overhauling or possibly even canceling its upcoming MMO Project T
. The leaker has accurately predicted and demonstrated the release of skins and characters like Bel’Veth in the past.
According to him, Project T is supposed to transform into a Genshin-like open-world game with multiplayer elements that will also be available on mobile. Here, players will utilize the well-known characters from the Riot universe.
However, those who are worried about the LoL-MMORPG can probably breathe a sigh of relief for now.
New games are expensive, but Arcane was not a bargain either:
Project T is not the LoL-MMORPG
What is Project T? Many fans probably believed at first that the LoL-MMORPG was Project T, as no other MMO was truly known from RIOT. However, Project T is said to be a different game that was previously described as an MMO-FPS. So, the developers at RIOT are likely working on a second MMO that should lean more towards the shooter genre.
Hardly anything was publicly known about Project T, leading some to believe that it was a game like Destiny 2 or something similar to ARC Raiders with a persistent world.
The account @SargeOP_, which highlighted the leak on X.com, also confirms that Project T is intended to be a completely different game than the MMORPG for League of Legends.
To be on the safe side, we have contacted RIOT regarding the matter and inquired about Project T and the LoL-MMORPG. We will share their response with you as soon as it is available.
What will the new title look like? Currently, not much is known about RIOT’s Genshin-like game. The MMO-FPS Project T is said, according to a post by @SargeOP_, to be set in the Valorant universe. However, with the shift towards Genshin, it seems they aim to transition to League of Legends as a brand, as the leakers state.
Many players could probably envision building teams from their favorite characters to battle bosses and others in a large open world. The leakers also suggest a multiplayer feature.
Until the developers at RIOT confirm what is true about the rumors, hopes for a large LoL-MMORPG remain high. And that most people were not aware that a second MMO was actually planned.
