The MOBA League of Legends has received the new patch 11.8, but it causes problems: The champs Aphelios, Xayah, and Twitch can no longer deal critical damage in certain cases due to a strange bug. Riot Games has temporarily disabled all three champions.
This is the bug: It is a puzzling bug affecting three ADC characters, only one of whom has been changed in the patch.
The bug causes the auto-attacks of the three AD carries, which hit multiple enemies, to no longer deal critical damage as intended:
- Twitch has an issue with his ultimate “Fire and Pray” (R) – the ultimate should penetrate enemies, it still does, but it no longer crits
- Xayah’s “Defiant Feather” passive ability ensures that the next normal attacks hit all targets in her path – but her auto-attacks no longer crit
- Aphelios is also experiencing the bug when the Infernum weapons are used
This is the consequence of the bug: As seen in a YouTube video, the win rate of the 3 champions dropped significantly and alarmingly after the patch. When the bonus damage from crits is missing, a lot of damage is simply lost.
Riot temporarily disables Twitch, Aphelios, and Xayah in live play
This is Riot’s response: In the live game of LoL, the three champions were quickly “temporarily disabled” – they can no longer be played.
This is the discussion: LoL players are wondering how this bug could go live. The test server is supposed to find such bugs.

In any case, some issues appeared with the patch: Many players suffered from a login problem. They got stuck in an endless loading screen.
We once reported on one of the worst bugs in LoL in 2020, back then the little Poppy made headlines, she was so problematic that even her victims were banned in LoL:
Exploit in LoL is so ridiculously strong that some victims were banned
