Player Martin “Rekkles” Larsson will return to Europe in League of Legends . Most recently, he won the world championship title in LoL in London with the South Korean team T1 as the sixth man. His announcement is now a surprise. At 28 years old, he will return to Europe, to his home country Sweden, which he left at age 16. Rumor has it he might join “Los Ratones,” a team of prominent English-speaking Twitch streamers.
This is what Rekkles says about his move to South Korea: 28-year-old Rekkles says (via X) that when he moved to South Korea, to T1’s second team, it was not a good time for him at all:
- He had just received the diagnosis that he is on the autistic spectrum.
- Rekkles says he had rough years in LoL after leaving Fnatic in 2020.
- And there were problems in the family.
Actually, he wanted to take a break from LoL, but his “future Martin” would never have forgiven him for that, so he accepted the offer from T1’s General Manager, Becker Jung, and went to South Korea for a year, had an incredible and successful time there, but that is now coming to an end.
Rekkles became world champion with T1 and Faker a few weeks ago:

These are his new plans: Rekkles says he needs to teleport back to base now, regenerate mana and health points, buy a few items, and upgrade skills before he goes back into the Rift. He left home at age 16 in 2013, and in 2024 it is time to return.
He has an offer for the 2025 season that allows him to make this return.
In Sweden, he also wants to face challenges he has avoided for years.
Rumors about a team of Twitch streamers become more likely
Where is he transferring to? People on reddit are relatively sure: He is moving to a new team of content creators that is supposed to form under the leadership of Caedrel in the Northern European Regional League NCL. Sweden is part of this Northern European league.
On November 15, the team’s roster is supposedly set to be announced, as rumored on reddit (via X).
There is speculation that the team of Twitch streamers will include players like
- Caedrel himself – the biggest current LoL streamer. He has learned Midlaner and Jungler and was a pro.
- Nemesis – the Slovenian was a Midlaner for the Mad Lions and Fnatic; he now works as a content creator for Gen G.
- TheBausffs – an eccentric streamer – he could play in the top lane.
- and now Rekkles – he is actually a trained ADC but has switched to support in South Korea.
That would indeed be a competitive team – some also throw in names like Perkz (ADC) or Jankos (Jungle instead of Caedrel). But those are still more distant rumors.
How likely is it that Rekkles joins this team? Nothing is confirmed yet, but it would make a lot of sense. It seems unlikely that Rekkles will return to the LEC and perhaps join a weaker team. The path to Los Ratones is also a decision towards taking another step toward becoming a content creator.
What is interesting from a German perspective is that Caedrel’s team would be similarly structured to the German influencer team NNO, and they have already signaled that they might leave the Prime League in 2025 and could play against Los Ratones for the title in Northern Europe – perhaps even against Rekkles: LoL: Team of German Twitch streamers wants to stop playing in Germany after issues with the league.
