Faker is a living legend in League of Legends. He has achieved many things that other professionals can only dream of. Now, after 10 years, he repeated the greatest success one can achieve in a LoL match.
What has Faker accomplished? On May 8, 2025, the South Korean team T1 faced off against the team DRX in the LCK 2025. In the Best-of-5, Faker’s team, who became world champions again last year, won dominantly against their opponents after 2 matches.
In doing so, Faker also achieved something he last accomplished in a professional match in 2015: a Pentakill. This is the term used when a single player takes out the entire opposing team in a short period. In the game, this is highlighted by the right sound.
After the match, his coach spoke about the milestone and stated: Faker can do that more often.
The Second Pentakill of His Career
How did the Pentakill happen? In the second match, Faker played his signature champion Ahri in the mid lane. At around 25 minutes, there was a fight in the Baron Pit after DRX began to attack the objective.
However, T1 did not let that happen easily. Oner used his Nocturne ultimate, and the supporter Keria engaged with the champion Nautilus. A teamfight ensued, and Faker took down each and every player from DRX, securing himself the Pentakill (via YouTube).
This is only
the second Pentakill of his career. He had his first one in 2015 in a match against the team NaJin (via YouTube). At that time, he played his other signature champion LeBlanc.
While 2 isn’t much historically speaking, Doublelift has a total of 10; for Faker’s career, though, this is another milestone after his 5th world championship title, especially since ADC players usually score Pentakills.
His coach, Kim Jeong-soo, likely agrees, reacting to the success after the match. He stated according to evrimagaci.org: I hope to see more Pentakills from him after today.
In this context, he also praised his entire team:
The players and coaching staff are incredibly capable. I was worried during the first round, but now that we are back together, I believe we can maintain this level of performance. We need to continue working with the metadata and the right strategies.
Although Faker is relatively old in LoL esports, he continues to surprise fans with incredible performances. He is also one of the big reasons why the team has so many fans.
