Soon there will finally be the coveted mastery points in additional game modes of League of Legends.
Since the introduction of mastery points in LoL, Aram and 3v3 players have been waiting to earn these points on maps other than Summoner’s Rift. With these points, one can “level up” various champions and thereby showcase to other players (and themselves) how experienced they are with that character. However, so far, mastery points could only be obtained on the regular 5v5 map.
Mastery points already on LoL PBE servers
Although there is no exact release date yet, the mastery points for the Twisted Treeline and the Howling Abyss are close to activation. The integration of mastery points on these maps has taken so long because the rating system had to be changed to calculate the reward points. After all, different factors are important in Aram and 3v3 compared to the 5v5 mode, and therefore new rules had to be established or existing rules changed.
The system is now advanced enough to be extensively tested on the official LoL test servers. Typically, not much time should pass from the PBE to the live servers, which is why we will likely be able to earn points in 3v3 and Aram very soon.
