League of Legends is getting a new champion with Akshan. Theoretically, he can revive all 4 teammates at once. Many players are already fearing that Akshan will soon receive a nerf.
What kind of champion is this? Akshan is a new ranged champion intended for the midlane. He is supposed to focus particularly on duels and roaming between lanes. His model was teased in artwork a few weeks ago.
Riot Games has now officially introduced Akshan in a video. For the first time, the champion’s abilities were showcased.
Akshan can revive teammates and has other strong abilities
This is what Akshan can do:
- Passive: Every third hit from an attack or ability deals bonus damage. If the target was an enemy champion, Akshan receives a shield. After an attack, Akshan fires a second attack with less damage. This can be canceled, granting Akshan additional movement speed.
- Q – Avengerang: Akshan throws a boomerang that deals physical damage, reveals enemies, and increases its range whenever an enemy is hit. Enemies can be hit when the boomerang is thrown and when it returns.
- W – Going Rogue:
- Passive – Whenever an enemy champion kills an ally of Akshan, they are marked as a rogue. When Akshan is involved in a kill of a rogue (an assist is enough), he gains additional gold. Additionally, all allies killed by the rogue are revived at the base. All other opponents then lose the rogue status.
- Active – Akshan becomes briefly camouflaged, and if he is near terrain, he remains permanently camouflaged. During this time, Akshan can see the trails of rogues and gains movement speed and mana regeneration while moving towards them.
- E – Heroic Swing: Akshan fires a grappling shot that sticks into the first terrain it hits. As long as the hook is embedded in the terrain, he can reactivate the ability to swing in the direction of the terrain and fire projectiles that deal normal damage to the next enemy. He can also cast the ability again while swinging to jump towards the mouse pointer and fire a final shot. The cooldown resets when Akshan is involved in a kill.
- R – Comeuppance: Akshan aims at an enemy champion and begins to channel his weapon to load projectiles. At the end of the duration or after reactivating the ability, Akshan fires all loaded projectiles, with each dealing normal damage based on the lost health to the first affected minion, champion, or building. Akshan can move during the channeling and use Heroic Swing.

What are the initial reactions like? Most players on YouTube and Reddit assume that Akshan is too strong and will quickly receive a nerf. They particularly focus on his ability “W – Going Rogue,” with which he can revive teammates:
- User Raikaria2 sees a huge problem in him: “He is literally game-breaking. As long as he has the revival in his abilities, he will be 100% picked or banned. He has an auto-win mechanic for games beyond 25 minutes.” (via Reddit)
